Did You Have To Show Your ID To Vote? | |
| Amilius User ID: 27154250 11/06/2012 05:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I voted. This is what happened. I went to my polling place which is a public school. I first went on line to determine what my election district is. Then I went on the line. I gave the woman my election ID but she said my election district is what it says on the card which is not what the guy told me at the first line. So I looked for that election district. It doesn't exist. So I got guidance and they said that the election district I was told in the first line is my election district. From now on I will just go with my ID. So I stood on line again and this time the woman let me vote in that line. I gave my ID, she wrote my name on a card and I received the voting paper. They explained I had to fill in the bubble. I waited for 10 minutes then went behind the voting box. I filled in my candidates. Someone in Russian asked me to help him. He wanted me to verify if that guy's name on the ballot is Mitt Romney and I did. After I was finished I was confused where to scan it but then I found the machine. That was the easy part. I just scanned my paper and the machine took it. I was done. I voted for Gary Johnson for president and Kirsten Gillibrand for Senator(Kucinich endorsed her). The only thing I want to know is why are Obama and Romney also nominees of other parties? That's allowed? Obama is nominee for Democratic and Working families parties and Romney is nominee for Republican and Conservative parties. |

I gave her first and last name, and street address. She nodded and handed me the paper before I even finished with my street address because she just wanted to hear the house number. I was in and out in 3 minutes flat. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 24960373 11/06/2012 06:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes, this is the third or fourth state I have voted in and the FIRST ONE that didn't send us a registration card or thing to bring. Here, we just had to produce official ID with our address on it or something close to that with and affidavit. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24960373 Simple process here, but the ballot was SHORT...only two pages..unlike the one in 2008 that was what...ten pages long or so? Nevada vs. North Dakota I suppose. BTW, they did SCAN it (my license). I thought maybe I was getting liquor or smokes too at this point, lol! Nice to be TRACKED, eh?! |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 27130701 11/06/2012 06:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Nope-NY As a matter of fact, they have set up voting places like the church next to my house, where one can walk in, fill out an affidavit that asks things like your name, address, social security number, AND if you're an American Citizen. Then you can vote. Absolutely NO verification of citizenship, eligibility or even if one is registered to vote. Dozens of places like that all over NYC. They are making it EASY to scam/fraud!!! How f***d up is that?? |

I just showed my license they found me on list of names told me what number I was in record book where I signed my name gave me ballot and ink pen and sent me on my way to fill in the arrows! |

You sure they were Russian? Not that it matters. You can be an American citizen and not speak a word of English as long as you pass the test. Granted it's not an easy test; most American's probably couldn't pass it. |

They look up your name in a register and you sign in under your registration signature - I ** assume ** they are supposed to check if the signatures match. |

They were supposed to ask even though I didn't have to show, but they didn't even ask. I had it on me but didn't want to show it because it would have been a pain in the ass getting it out after holding my toddler in my arms in the cold for 30 minutes. I knew I didn't have to show it though. I would have had it ready if they wanted it. Last Edited by Gratia Plena on 11/06/2012 07:02 PM |

It shows my signature, address, full name, etc.,. AND they check your current signature next to the one in the ledger everytime you vote. There is also a paper trail from another signature. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 26692998 11/06/2012 07:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I did - down here in Georgia - it was a two step process. Quoting: Turtles Voice I went through one line to write down my name and address and sign a piece a paper and then another as a poll worker verified my information. Curious what other voters experienced today. I pulled out my ID here in NJ, and the elderly black lady told me she couldn't read it anyway because she can't see and needs glasses. She took a full five minutes to find my name...then I helped her! OMG! |

Quoting: Minnie Kitty and of course it pissed him off that his proof that he fought for his country wasn't good enough to vote with. he eventually .... after arguing with them ... gave them his drivers license and voted. Glad to know he didnt go out of his way to cause problems..LOL |
