Just check your bag into the cargo hold and you may be able to take it with you depending on the laws of the country you travel to.

You need to learn how to travel on the ocean if you don't already, a sailboat will get you places without a passport.

Mothballs and a roach trap...to keep the bugs out.

add a fire starter, camping stove, freeze dried food, H2O w/shelf life &/or H2O purifier, tire repair kit.

When bugging out, should a mountain bike be considered or does that tie you too closely to roads that may be dangerous or untraversable?

Wonderful thinking, I always thought about that, bugging out on a sail boat.

Enough food for a couple of days. (Remember to rotate) A water bottle and a water filter. Change of clothing and extra socks, first aid kit, a long burning candle, matches, fire starter, camping coffee pot and coffee, sewing kit, small bag of dog food (for the doggies, I'm not leaving them behind.)

If I'm going far, I also try to throw a sleeping bag in my trunk.

the Life Straw is not the best filter out there but it only weighs 2oz.....

A little house deep in the woods. And a bunch of shit and regular house type stuff in the house. Also 2 goats,13 chickens a creek and a spring house on the outside of the bag near the zipper.

Your Mountain Bike is a must. You can use the roads but also hide fast with your transportation plus its quiet and you can use back roads. Cut across fields etc. Smart. Smart. Smart. I'm giving you Karma for the BIKE.

For a carry bag theres nothing better. Get a few they are not that expensive.

More. More. More. Get a back pack just in case you crash your car and add a light weight tent. More of everything.

If you go the mountain bike route, it is easier to carry the load. I have a Cannondale with a good bike rack.

Regardless if you trek out or bike out, you need to be in shape. You can't just hope on a bike and peddle 10 miles unless you make that ride three times a week.

Sandy makes a great point. If faced with that kind of scenario, how would yo manage the content of your BoB? Would you have stayed on Staten Island or pushed for inland?
