Anonymous Coward User ID: 25987328 United States 11/06/2012 10:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Prop 37 is very important. My kid is a molecular biologist and genetic engineer and is now an Osteopathic doctor. She cried to me after graduating from college as a genetic engineer, that she could not go into this field because it would destroy our planet. She was taught that is was just about re-arranged protean... but it is a lie. GMO is deadly to us. My child saw that as a student, and re directed her career. We need to get the word out that GMO means sterilization and death to humans and animals who eat it. If this stuff was so good for us, Wouldn't Monsanto want to brag on it instead of trying to hide it? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 20365070 United States 11/06/2012 10:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am in California and can't get any info on how prop. 37 is doing. No local channels are reporting on it???? Quoting: Prop 37 25605044 BTW, prop. 37 is about labeling GMO foods. Anyone? I'm in Michigan but have been following this one closely for the past few months in hopes it passes and opens the door. I too can't find any updates/exit polls online. I just knew if I came to GLP I'd find someone talking or reporting on it. So I'll keep checking in here tonight. Good luck! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25605044 I wanna know if GLP moderators are DOING THEIR JOB. I clicked the pin button. Because I am curious as to if it passes or not and this is the only thread on the pass or fail of prop 37. I also gave it 5*s. Maybe the title should be diff. |
Earth Daughter User ID: 26255222 United States 11/06/2012 10:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I voted for it. But you know, there are always the dumb asses who will say no to anything that is going to cost the state money, regardless of the benefits. I certainly want to know when there is GMO in my foods. But maybe not enough people are educated as to what that actually is. "Arrows of hate have been shot at me too, but they never hit me, because somehow they belonged to another world, with which I have no connection whatsoever." - Albert Einstein |

Not enough people can afford to go to school, and when they do they are thought by incompetent people. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO EDUCATE YOUR KIDS. |

Quoting: Earth Daughter But you know, there are always the dumb asses who will say no to anything that is going to cost the state money, regardless of the benefits. I certainly want to know when there is GMO in my foods. But maybe not enough people are educated as to what that actually is. That's a huge problem. Some of the "no" propaganda I read said that we have been genetically engineering food since agriculture began. This is absolutely not true! That statement implies that hybridization is equivalent to genetic engineering, which is completely wrong. Hybridization = cross-breeding within a species; GE = cross-breeding between species, chemicals, pesticides, etc. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified." |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1544701 United States 11/06/2012 10:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So many people feel so passionately about this bill that I think it will pass. I have 2 friends who live in California, and I texted them and let them know about this bill and how important it is. They didn't care about it before I talked to them, but afterwards, they ended up voting for it. I'm sure that has happened to many people. This is one of those bills that people will spread the word about to their friends and family in Cali. People can say what they want about California but at least the people are health conscious, which is a nice change from most of the country. |

Hybridization = cross-breeding within a species; GE = cross-breeding between species, chemicals, pesticides, etc. Exactly. I get into that argument with "scientists" all the time. There's a difference between saving the seeds of the vegetables that were productive and tasty to plant next year, vs performing gene splicing in a laboratory under a microscope. Anyone who doesn't get that shouldn't be allowed outside without a helmet on. |
