I see no evidence than Romney would be any more Libertarian than Obama. If anything less so, he wants more government intrusion into private lives, "war on porn" for example. Otherwise he is exactly the same, owned by exactly the same Wall Street interests.

You didn't learn in 2008.

Then, the Tea Party rose, driven by the libertarian wing. Instead of embracing it, you co-opted it, driving away its passionate founding population and replacing it with traditional Republican voters. You still had enough momentum to do well in the mid-terms, so instead of learning what drives the passion of the libertarian wing, you kicked it right in the ass.

Then, as the 2012 race began, you noticed a libertarian, Ron Paul wing enflamed with passion. Despite its past mistreatment, those voters loyally followed RP under the (R) banner. Rather than learning and embracing these voters, you sent out your pack of howling pundits to ridicule and misrepresent his policies. You treated the only innovative and original voice in the presidential pack as an annoyance.

Then, you had an unhappy populace looking for a reason to get excited, and you gave them warmed-over Reagan-lite served without an ounce of passion. You continued to throw the occasional bone to RP voters, treating them like just another of your dumbass interest groups that will happily sit up for a plate of meager promises.

Then, you were dealt the most favorable hand imaginable in 2012- shitty economy, leftist policies, and you still fucked it up. An election that should have been a triumph is a disaster.

And the missing ingredient for your party's moment of triumph? All those libertarians you treated like so much dogshit for the last two years.

We walked away, and as much as we loathe Obama's policies, as least with the Democratic party, our enemies attack from the front rather than stabbing us in the back.
