I was never going to vote Republican. I was going to vote for Obama if they didn't put up Ron Paul.

As it was, I voted for Johnson.

It was not a vote stolen from anyone because Romney never had my vote anyway.

For some reason Republicans think that ALL Ron Paul supporters WOULD have voted for Romney IF ONLY they'd fell in line.

A LOT of us were never in that crazy line anyway.

This is exactly it. The Republicans shat upon the only real conservative on the ticket, and thought that everybody would fall in line. The irony is delicious. Especially because Romney was not advocating any huge difference compared with Obama.

Hell, I have even rethought the Russia comment Obama was caught with. Russia could be a great ally, and it seems that Romney wasn't even willing to play ball with him.

The main concern for me, though, was that while everybody knows Obama's anti-gun, he hasn't the political clout to actually do anything about it. Romney, on the other hand, is a confirmed gun-grabber, and with the mandate of the Republican party he could have done real damage, with 1/2 or more of the Republicans just falling into line on any vote he would have advanced, and all the Democrats, we would have a much greater chance of losing gun rights than we would under Obama.

Now the real question becomes, does the Republican party view this as a splash of cold water, knowing that the tea party would rather vote Johnson than the milk-toast Romney? Will they finally recognize that a white Obama isn't acceptable to the real conservatives?

My guess, is that they will fail even more miserably next time, but this will allow an actual alternative to emerge.

Plus, with Obama we already know we won't be going to war with Iran. With Romney, it was all but certain, and that would have been dangerous.

Prediction? End of the world is postponed until at least 2016!

Re: Dear Republican Party, this is what happens when you treat your Ron Paul supporters like shit
I agree with you 100% OP.

I fought hard for Ron Paul and was a delegate for him to my state convention. It was dumbfounding to read the party platform and watch the Republicans belittle him when he was more Republican than the candidates the party was dishing out. The disrespect they showed us was disgusting. They could have had our energy, our enthusiasm and our organization but they blew it.

Though he was not my candidate, I cast my vote for Romney in the end. I know that many of the people I worked with during Dr. Paul's campaign went another direction. I don't blame them a bit.

I still have hope for our country though. We were successful in securing a large portion of our precinct officer positions and our party control at the local level will grow more in 2 years. I am told this happened all over the country. We are going to turn the party away from assbackwards social issues and point toward fiscal responsiblity and limited government. We are seeking out liberty minded candidates to support at the local level and those people will start winning and gradually move up to the higher elected offices. I hope the country has time.
 Quoting: JadeDone

Somehow I think the idiots in charge of the Republican party are not eager for a house cleaning. Their corporate backers would suffer just as badly as the Democrats under Paul. Principles be damned, this is about MONEY! As long as some generic buttplug keeps the largesse flowing, it's all good.

The new hotness? SEQUESTRATION! Look for this to be the new buzzword during Obama's next term.

I stayed home. No WAY I am voting for the 'lesser of two evils'.

As far as I'm concerned: EVIL IS EVIL.

You repubelickins let people like Carl 'I love Satan' Rove pick your candidate for you. You are so brainwashed by the mainstream media that you actually MOCK freedom and liberty.

Look at what the media did to Ron Paul from the START. Either totally ignore him or MOCK him at every chance they got.

I'll NEVER vote in a ReBLOODlican or a DemoCRIP.

This country is Sodom & Gomorrah, it's going to be destroyed by GOD.

BTW....ROMNEY & OBAMA ARE COUSINS.

ALL presidents are RELATED.

ELECTIONS are a FRAUD.

Grow up.

Re: Dear Republican Party, this is what happens when you treat your Ron Paul supporters like shit
Saving the country isn't about voting. It's about capturing the spirit we lost. At one point an old school republican would have been a modern libertarian. At one point we were told that all men are created equal. That does not mean all men are ended equally.

Choice and responsibility make us who we are. I totaled a car this week, DUI. I fucked up. Made a bad choice. I'm going to court, taking responsibility for it, and in the meantime doing a lot of productive work, doing small design innovation in my basement. What I'm working on would probably be profitable, but much more so, beneficial. At one point that was the goal of every working man in the country. Because one needed to support the ones he loved.

Now we elect people to pass laws so that my parents tax dollars fund my rehabilitation, rather than leaving me on the hook to may them myself or them doing it out of care. We as a people elected an unloving mom and dad government who charges the older son rent to pay for the younger ones bail, rather than the watchdog government that occasionally poops on the front step and awaits the tablescraps you feed it to sustain it's fighting form.

All because man no longer cares about beneficial work, but only profitable. Rather than innovate, rather than invent, rather than solve problems, we stagnate and our industrial nation becomes a paper nation. Rather than learn to create our own world, we chose to rely on our mom and dads, because we grew lazy, and they give us free food! Why build a better method of IC motor or try implosion if you love designing engines, when the government doesn't support it, the people can't afford it, and you have to pay so much in taxes and go through regulation after regulation. You can become a wealthy king of business, and a noted inventor, if only the world cared as much about advancement, both personally and as a people, as you do.

Do you wanna save this country? Do what our forefathers did, find a tech advancement or find a resource, and build a boomtown. Wanna save the economy? Export to other countries primarily, do business on the internet. We have millions of college graduates working in fields they didn't go to college for, why don't all of you get together, build a few new cities, and upgrade America.

This isn't a rant, this is your instruction. Colorado and Washington just legalized marijuana. Why not build a few Hydroponic boomtowns? If enough of you could go tenting in parks across the country and rally at townhall meetings bitching about what you'd do different, go do it. Now's your chance, build, create, prove to the world America isn't going down. Prove to the world that our generation is rising, that we have no fear, and that all the best new technology all across the world is still designed and commercialized in the USA.

Rise. It's time for real change.

Re: Dear Republican Party, this is what happens when you treat your Ron Paul supporters like shit
You didn't learn in 2008.

Then, the Tea Party rose, driven by the libertarian wing. Instead of embracing it, you co-opted it, driving away its passionate founding population and replacing it with traditional Republican voters. You still had enough momentum to do well in the mid-terms, so instead of learning what drives the passion of the libertarian wing, you kicked it right in the ass.

Then, as the 2012 race began, you noticed a libertarian, Ron Paul wing enflamed with passion. Despite its past mistreatment, those voters loyally followed RP under the (R) banner. Rather than learning and embracing these voters, you sent out your pack of howling pundits to ridicule and misrepresent his policies. You treated the only innovative and original voice in the presidential pack as an annoyance.

Then, you had an unhappy populace looking for a reason to get excited, and you gave them warmed-over Reagan-lite served without an ounce of passion. You continued to throw the occasional bone to RP voters, treating them like just another of your dumbass interest groups that will happily sit up for a plate of meager promises.

Then, you were dealt the most favorable hand imaginable in 2012- shitty economy, leftist policies, and you still fucked it up. An election that should have been a triumph is a disaster.

And the missing ingredient for your party's moment of triumph? All those libertarians you treated like so much dogshit for the last two years.

We walked away, and as much as we loathe Obama's policies, as least with the Democratic party, our enemies attack from the front rather than stabbing us in the back.

The Republican party of the last three decades is dead. You can continue stumbling on, zombified, as our country drowns under a slow drip of socialism, or you can WAKE THE FUCK UP, and give the libertarians a chance in the driver's seat.
 Quoting: CrazyEyesThreadKilla

Well you had your say.

You made your point.

I hope you get what you want..

Remember we all sink or swim together.

You didn't just teach us a lesson, you taught yourself one as well. You are on the same boat.....just remember that.
 Quoting: FatalW1shes

If so, please point it out because to me, any mother fucker that supports the Patriot Act and the NDAA is NOT ELECTABLE and both of those son of a bitches support killing you without so much as a trial.

So the post-mortems have started. Where are the fingers being pointed?

1. Mitt Romney - he's a weak candidate, he sucks, etc.

[link to jonathanlast.com]

2. We need Hispanics and women, not just old, white men

[link to hotair.com]

3. Similar to #2, the electorate has permanently changed

[link to hotair.com]

Not really very inspiring stuff. The problem seems to be perceived as the candidate and the inability of the party to market its ideas to Hispanics and women. There does not seem to be much understanding that the problem is the current set of ideas. You can't sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves (unless you are Tommy Boy).

The good news is some Republican thinkers are beginning to refocus on ideas. Not many, but some. Here's one good link. I will add another one later.

[link to dailycaller.com]

The search for ideas will lead back to Austrian economic thinkers and libertarian political thinkers.

I hope.

The only thing that makes it tolerable for me is that you will go down with the rest of us. Congratulations. Your selfishness may have destroyed our country. It was possible with Romney we may have had more time to wake others up. With Obama, we may only have months, if that. Thanks very much.

I couldn't vote for Mitt after the way the party, largely at the instigation of the Romney campaign, methodically worked to discredit Paul.

On the spectrum of ideas, I actually consider the gulf between Obama and Romney smaller than the gulf between Romney and Paul. Romney wasn't championing any substantial change. He just wanted to shift the status quo just enough to aid his benefactors rather than Obama's.

You might be right that a Romney presidency would have bought us more time, but the more important point is that the Republican party would have learned that there is no cost to crushing independent thought within the party. The party is now in crisis, which is good, because it opens up the possibility that party will reconsider what it stands for. In a debate of ideas, the Liberty wing stands to continue gaining influence.

Ron Paul could have and would have beat Obama! He would have pulled most all the Republican vote, the Independent vote and would have pulled way more of the Democratic vote away then Romney did. Of course the Republican party would rather back a corporate whore like Romney and when they did they lost to Obama. The day they gave the nomination to Romney is was all over!

You mean it was over before it started. We all knew that Romney was the nominee before the GOP primary process even started, and we all knew he had no chance to beat Obama.. What did you give us.......Johnson? 99% never heard of him up until a few months ago. Brilliant! Yeah, you guys aren't picking up shit when you just gave Obama and Co that much more power and more time to organize. At least Romney would have to seek reelection where Obama doesn't. He's got free reign Without consequences now.

You retards keep gloating that you screwed the GOP when all you did is screw yourselves. You're going to get the exact opposite of everything you believe in with Obama unchecked. But hey, you screwed the GOP. Although you fuckin monkeys hate the GOP, they're the only ones saving your asses because they have a majority in the House. If they didn't have the House, you'd be singing a different tune.

You assholes are going to be the first to complain when Obama dry fucks you but hey, you screwed the GOP.

Congrats and flipoff

So let me get this straight. I screwed the gop because I refused to vote for the lesser of two evils? Because I didn't vote for a warmonger chicken hawk, police statist, fascist/socialist, crony capitalist flip flopper without a shred of principle who supports the ndaa, drone killing, the fed?

Maybe you should also blame the fundamentalists who wouldn't vote for him because they don't think he is a Christian.

I won't be complaining because tweedledum, tweedledee is all the same to me.
