Republicans need to reevaluate their positions. Republicans will never again win a presidential election with less than 3% of black voters and with 30% of latinos. The demographics have changed. If no inroads are made into these groups, as well as women, it's over. It's just numerically impossible.

I agree. I would also throw in getting in on comprehensive immigration reform. Latinos are the single fastest growing voting demographic. That's what I mean by pander, though. Opening the border and letting latinos jump the line and skip the qualification check is a very bad unprincipled idea. Might as well call ourselves Democrats then. If we give up on the Norquist pledge, we could retain our principles on immigration and, I think, get massive amounts of white middle class votes, because we would offer them an unequivocally better deal. Well Romney did that already, but I think the no-new-taxes-for-the-rich idea pisses off a lot of people, with some justification! You might be right. Thanks for the back and forth. There is intelligence on GLP after all!
