I like millions of republicans voted against Romney and for Obama because the GOP forced Romney on us, and turned their back on Ron Paul.

Romney won the popular vote. America needs to do away with electoral voting.

Romney is just a front man for the bankers who have taken over our country. I don't kiss Obama's ass either but I thought him a better option than Mitt. I also voted for same-sex marriage and Marijuana legalization because what other grown people do is none of my damn business.

Romney is a Private Equity guy. He'd do to this country the same thing he's done with every other company he & his cronies have squeezed the life out of, outsource everything, layoff all the worker bees, saddle it with a mountain of debt, give himself & his buddies a fat bonus & then sell the crippled shell off to the next sucker in line to deal with.

While Obama is also owned by banks, energy & military industrial complex, he's taken a less active role in collecting government incentives for liquidating healthy American companies & removing taxpayers from the system and sending their jobs overseas.

I didn't vote for either of them.

I didn't, but one could argue:

*Obama stopped our economy's free fall. Gotta put on the brakes and bring an object in motion to a stop, before you can reverse course.

*Obama withstood Israel pressure to have America attack Iran.

*Obama saved General Motors (hence, tons of American jobs).

*Obamacare, which passed the Congress, and was upheld by the Supreme Court.

*Renewed the Bush tax cuts.

*Finally put the gay in the military issue to rest by allowing them in the military.

In short, Obama has done a lot of mopping up of problems that have plagued us for a while. Of course he's not a panacea. I don't agree with some of his policies. But I agree with much more than I thought I would when he started out.

Keep in mind, too, that when you cut federal government bloated bureaucracy, you're going to have a LOT of people out of work. Add to that the fact that these newly out of work federal workers will find it very difficult to transition into working in the private sector, because the economy isn't doing great. So I'm not sure this would be a good time to drastically cut federal bureaucracy; at least not until the economy and private sector pick up, so they can help absorb those who will lose their jobs when the federal bureaucracy is cut.

And I say this as a Ron Paul supporter who thinks the federal government should be cut drastically across the board (including defense).

Despite what the rabidly negative Republican talking heads say, Obama has governed as a moderate. Of course, much of that is due to the Republican Congress. But the fact remains, he hasn't governed as what one would call a "liberal". George W. Bush was at least as liberal. He more greatly expanded the size and scope of the federal government. The TSA and Homeland Security and the Patriot Act were created/enacted under Bush. Not to mention Bush giving $15 billion in aid to Africa (which, of course, goes directly into the coffers of the ruling dictators and very little is seen by the people over there). The Bush years destroyed the credibility of the modern-day Republican Party.

he was ahead by 10,000 or so votes early in the evening, at the time of this post he's about a million behind. they're still counting ballots but the districts are gerrymandered in a way that the results are fairly predictable.

No jobs... and I know of a few small businesses that will close now.... it is bad.

We have to remember than when we "cut the federal government", that sounds benign and all well and good (and it IS for the most part, in my opinion), but these are people's jobs who've become reliant on their government job (many of which aren't necessary, but simply employ certain constituencies). When those jobs are cut, people are out of work and put on welfare roles. Would we rather them be employed and paid, or unemployed and paid? At some point, this action will NEED to be taken. But it should wait until the private sector is more dynamic, and the economy shows signs of greater growth.

4. Of course there is no way for neither you nor I to know this for sure. However I was very surprised how divided this election showed this country to be tonight. I believe the fact that Romney is a Morman had a huge impact on those who might have supported him. Many evangelical Christians, see this religion as a type of cult. The fact he was part of this "cult" made them a little to uneasy.

I've just gotta say this...

Before Obama, I had healthcare INCLUDED as a job benefit - for me and my whole family. No deductibles, $5 copay.

NOW...different story. I'm paying nearly $500/month for crap insurance - HUGE deductible ($2000/person), $25 copay, and only 80% coverage. WHY?????

So I can pay for our dead-beats. So YOU don't have to pay. I get up 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year, to work 9+ hour days...so I can support the other HALF of the country. On top of that my husband has been laid off - we have no food stamps, no unemployment, no government assistance. We take care of ourselves. I wish the rest would do the same.

Nuff said. Had to share. Trying to be warm and fuzzy here, but not doing a great job of putting up with the idea I have to support those lying in bed every day, eating bon bons as I slave and toil and lose my edge - I may as well quit working too. Trust me. I am the NEW SLAVE.

It's a rather simple tradeoff. Tell them that you're going to vote for more god and less gays, more guns and less abortions, more bombs and less education, and they'll allow you and your rich buddies to stash more of your money away through lower taxes.

The things that's a little unsettling about that is that we have very few manufacturing jobs to come back to. What are the jobs all these unemployed people are going to come back to? We've outsourced the vast majority of our manufacturing to cheaper labor in foreign countries.
