I give you credit for taking care of your family. To many people spend the little bit of money they have and throw their parents and grandparents in state funded nursing homes.

we first moved from Westchester NY to Texas 4 years ago, started a business, completed the move last year

things in Dallas are 100% better than the north east...

I had lived in Weston CT, when I drove down route 1 this summer, through Darien, Norwalk and Westport I was shocked at how shabby it looked...many yellowed store signs, many more "for lease" signs which were so old they had fallen off the windows

there was a shitload of waterfront property for lease in the heart of Westport...the place had that air of death about it

I talk to friends still on Long Island and its the same in many places on the north shore there as well....the slow motion car wreck of economic implosion

Meanwhile here in Dallas businesses of all kinds are booming, restaurants are packed, real estate is strong...and the cost of doing business is about 1/3 to 1/4 that of the NY metro area

I helped a friend get a job here after he was close to throwing in the towel in Michigan. He's 52 years old, had been out of work for 2 years, and was running out of the last of his survival cash

I found him an interview with a CPA firm, he drove down and got the job offer after the first interview, making $55K, which was his goal. He moved down here and 6 months later just bought a new car and his helping his daughter come down as well

His friends and family in Michigan had kept telling him don't bother, it's the same all over...saying crap like "at your age, you'll never get hired..."

I have no idea why people love being so negative and offer so much negative encouragement

People living in shitty parts of the world love to talk other people out of moving, keep telling them it's the same all over and other BS...misery loves company

I have helped young people from my extended business group move to Austin, and they love it there, I heard from one last week and he and his girlfriend are doing great. Lots of jobs in tech, lots of fun things to do plus cheap housing

But hey, who am I to convince you, right? Die hard north east snobs and the europeans who think like them will continually bash the southern US states, even if they have never been there....such willful ignorance

Maybe we're just trying to warn you that it looks even worse from the outside and we're worried about you. Which it does..and we do sometimes.

But that country has always given me PTSD so I have a hard time judging. I didn't start out there, I got sold into it which is a crap way to get introduced to anything. Even seeing Americans makes me a combination of paranoid and wanting to bash my head against the wall. It's hard to have drinks with someone when you're trying to measure up how brainwashed they are and how involved they might be in the military industrial complex lol. I've given up on that one.

I heard the church implore its people to vote for many months, and I was absolutely angered by this, as they are guilting their parishoners to share in this evil.
