I Blame Ron Paul for Republican Loss
Well, pretty close to a total disaster for the Republicans. Losing the presidency wasn't something completely unexpected due to the vagaries of an Electorate, where anything could happen (depending on which state barely breaks which way) but to not take over more Senate seats is something of a disaster. Clearly the Republicans are out of touch. Some solace in maintaining, possibly gaining a few seats in the House.

So why did the Republicans lose? Its because of Ron Paul. He may not have been the Republican nominee, but he is still highly influential in the Republican party. Unfortunately Republicans have been too influenced by him. Ron Paul, and now the Republicans, relies too much on intellect and Reason and arguing about policies, going into "esoteric" details and analysis of budgets, law, history, taxes, banking, foreign policy, etc.,

Intellect and reason NEVER EVER appealed to most American voters. You have to rely on fear mongering, demonizing, lies, half truth and emotions to win elections, and tantalizing promises of Obama phones, which the Democrats pulled off perfectly this election. The Republicans were too intellectually pristine, they needed to hit below the belt like the Democrats.

Sigh, Karl Rove realized this. Got Bush II elected, Rove loved Bush because he seemed like some good ol' boy the American public can emotionally identify with. Bush beat that robot Gore, Bush beat the robot Kerry. Soaring rhetoric teleprompter Obama beat befuddled old McCain and robot Romney. Clinton beat befuddled old Dole and Bush I. Heck, Bush I was even more charismatic then Dukakis, thats says something about Dukakis's utter lack of charisma. See how it goes?

Again, the Republicans have become to over intellectualized, esoteric, and caught up in financial minutiae thanks to Ron Paul. Sorry, love the guy, wish every politician was like him, but it doesn't work with the voters.

He can't win with the American voters. To much of a "nerd". You really think the average American can even begin to understand why returning to the gold standard would be good for the American economy?

You have to make up scary things like "shipping your jobs to China" or "wants to take away your abortion if your a rape victim" to scare people into voting for you. Crucial, esoteric policy discussions on National Debt, taxation and the gold standard just flies over way too many people's heads.

HIs policy is very easy to understand. Stop printing money out of thin air and hyperinflating our currency for the destruction of our republic. A foriegn policy that is humble, one in which we do not interject ourselves into the affairs of other nations, bring our troops home and use that money to free ourselves from the moneymasters. And allow the states to govern themselves, less federal governing where the power is in the hands of few and return the power to it's intention, the many. We are suffering from the television, years back there were only papers and text to read, the handsome and stupid had not a chance, now that is all we have.

Control our own currency and bring our troops home, allow the states to govern themselves, simple really.

So, Ron Paul not treating voters like idiots lost the Republicans the race? Do I understand this correctly?
 Quoting: zenobiaphobia

Yes. His small government, financially responsible policies are a huge influence on the Republican party, and Romney and Paul Ryan took a cue from him. They became policy wonks talking about the importance of lowering taxation and national debt and deficit spending. Such talk goes over the heads of most voters. They have no clue what your talking about. It always has and always will. You have to appeal to emotion and fear to win. Sorry.

No it is not, to the average American voter. You think they really have a clue between the relationship between printing money and inflation, and how printing money/inflation is just reverse taxation?

You have to scare the voters and appeal to their emotions, not appeal to their reason. Appealing to the voter's reason has never ever worked.

If you have two dollars, and the coffee costs a dollar then the coffeee is a dollar. Then you print up enough money out of the air, and you now have four dollars the coffee will now cost two dollars., and it goes on

as you print more however, people lose faith in that dollar and then you are fucked, ask every nation that has EVER tried fiat currency

fiat currency is just dollars that have nothing to make them valuable besides some banks and governments.

No no, that's too long and hard for most voters to think about, and it vaguely requires math too. So it will go in one ear and out the other.

You have to say things like "Romney only supports rich white people" and "free Obamaphones for everyone" and "Romney wants to take away woman's rights" to affect voters.

Unfortunately Republicans did not do this enough. Its easy enough, could have said things like "Obama is bankrupting the country" (which he is) and "Your children will starve to death because of Obama's debts". Unfortunately, Republicans got too caught up in facts and figures, like, Obama increased the national debt by 6 trillion dollars and your child will have to pay off $200,000 in debt because of Obama's debts. Most voters have trouble comprehending basic financial facts and figures as these.

Re: I Blame Ron Paul for Republican Loss
No, Ron Paul did NOT cause the GOP Loss.

It was the GOP's corruption in the way that they treated Dr. Paul that caused their loss.

I am admittedly a Ron Paul supporter. But had it been a fair contest and Ron Paul had lost, then I would have willingly backed Romney.

But as far back as the Iowa straw poll in 2011, the GOP and the media did everything they could to destroy him. (For a refresher on the Iowa Straw Poll, see Jon Stewart's take on it on his show of August 15th, 2011)

And all through the primaries and caucuses, there was rampant corruption and fraud. Again, for more evidence, see the Ben Swann "Reality Check" videos on YouTube from his coverage on Cincinnati Channel 19.

Then there was the GOP convention. The rules were that if a candidate won 5 states their name could be placed into nomination on the first ballot. But the GOP tried to change that to 10 states because they didn't want his name even mentioned during the roll call. When they didn't work they changed it to 8 states. Then to guarantee they would pass they kidnapped the Virginia delegates so that they weren't present on the convention floor when the vote was taken.

Oh, didn't hear that or don't believe me. Again, do your research and see for yourself that it did happen.

Then they changed the rules for 2016, allowing the main voter getter to approve or disapprove and replace any of the delegates committed to their opponents! And the voice vote was fake, as video of the teleprompter showed that the script already said "the ayes have it". (again, see the Ben Swann videos to discuss this and the kidnapping)

What these actions mean is that the GOP has destroyed the tea party and any grass roots movement - the party will be run from the top down and not the bottom up.

It'll be like Castro's Cuba or Saddam's Iraq - 99% of the votes are for the dictator. Wonderful party unity for the candidate TPTB want.

This is why I and I am sure many others sat out the election. THE GOP IS CORRUPT. Ron Paul would have upset their own little Tammany Hall and they had to do anything to stop that - by hook or by crook.

The religion of submission cannot survive an open and honest discussion of its convoluted and foolish scriptures, its sexually perverted terrorist prophet, or its deceitful and demented god. When Western leaders become unified and resolute in their hostility to Islam's violent and ungodly beginnings, Muslims will flee the religion because they will be horrified by its endorsement of terrorism, mass murder, slave trading, plunder, kidnapping, and rape.

If Muslims & their apologists really want to cure "Islamophobia," here is an easy way. Focus their indignation on Muslims committing violent acts in the name of Islam, not on non-Muslims reporting on those acts.

How can ANYONE say the election was stolen, with a straight face! I know you don't really believe that. Romney was doomed from the start. He was despised by the far-right wing of the party, and he's not an appealing candidate. I've seen fewer bumper stickers, yard signs, etc. for Romney/Ryan than I have for any Republican presidential ticket EVER!
