Not mandatory here. I can have all part time employees if I choose. If they try to change that I will just fire everyone and close shop. Or move my business to the Bahamas.

I recently got a job at a steel casting foundry in Wa state and they made all the new hires sign a paper that they agreed that they were 30 hour a week employees. You would get 40+ hours a week if you signed the paper and only 30 if you refused.

Kroger has had that for years for most of its employees..along w/alot of service industry like servers etc.

So, emplyees will have to buy personal coverage to the tune of $500/ month or $6000 a year.

I agree this is what will happen as I see something else they have been doing: 1099 for full time.

I and many others I know are 1099 for long term. that means no SS, unemployment, and other payroll issues.

if you want a job in Florida on the lower end of the wage scale that is one way to lesson your cost so they are doing it though it is a form of tax evasion.

Yep, I am what you would call a multi-skilled person. I hold a college degree. I am welder, mechanic, and carpenter. I was formerly paramedic & firefighter.

If I were not self-employed, I would be more frightened than am already. I have acquaintance that is a machinist and his company has all but a handful of people set to be cutback to part time, per diem, and other loopholes to deal with this man's reelection.
