Goodbye free health care, hello 30 hour work week

I'm going to still work my 40 hours a week. I have yet to hear any of this being mentioned at work.

If I was to work 30 hours a week I would be so far behind,especially around the holidays.

Tough SHIT . Dont like it, hit the road. There are 30 people licking their chops for your job. We are in business, took risks,loans out the ass for the American dream ! My dream and i'll be damned if the Government is gonna tell me I have to insure people that are a dime a dozen.

Health care isn't free,they take a big chunk out of our checks to cover our insurance, nothing is free unless your on welfare.

u forgot this side of the coin, if there was jobs here there would be little or no need for welfare.

There should be no "most" about it. ALL the departing employees MUST be Obamatards, at least for the first wave. Hopefully there won't need to be a second wave. I read a post a while back, the poster was being forced to lay off some of his workers. He went out into the parking lot, and all of the cars that had Obama stickers on them ended up belonging to the people he laid off. They are the dingbats who voted to put these mandates into place, and yet they expect to avoid their negative consequences.

I work 30-32 hours a week for 3/4 of the year and still get health care...

I dont expect it to happen over night. Otherwise people become hip.

But I do expect the trend to continue for the next few months. As employers hire, they weight the option of available hours.

If their employee worked 30 hrs, they owe them their pay. If that same employee worked 35 hours, NOW the employer needs to pay health care AND their pay rate. Which is a drastic change in profit.

The 30 hrs line will not be breached unless you are REALLY needed (rare).

Eventually, people will be working less hours PER job. And people will pick up more jobs over time to make up the lost income.

That or the spouse works too, or uncles, etc.


The limits will be pushed for profits. Now this person has to work 2 jobs at 30 hrs/wk each. Basically making people work harder with out over time pay. Because now that person is working 60 hrs/wk w/o overtime.

As long as the jobs growth looks good, it will be easy for Obamas socialistic empire to grow.

This part is good to know. I do 3 jobs where I work at and it doesn't get done right unless I do it.

People will work more for less, out of necessity. All the trolls that seem to be rejoicing about this on here, I wonder why? I must be lucky because all summer long I worked overtime, 10 hours a day plus 8 hours on saturdays so we could catch up. The only way my company will be hurt is if we go back to horse and buggy and bicycles. As long as there are cars, my company will have customers because cars do break down and we supply the replacement parts. I have also been cross trained to work in every department, I don't understand why so many people shy away from being cross trained. The deal with my company is new hires work 37 1/2 hours, are not allowed to do overtime and we don't hire walk-ins. We get temps and the ones who work hard and show up on time every day get hired. I luckily started before the 37 1/2 hour policy was implemented, get 40 hours, vacation, personal days and dibs on overtime. We have a high turn over rate because it's a high paced environment with a lot of heavy lifting and manual labor.

I'm a small business owner with 23 employees. They have a dental plan that is unbeatable (i pay for all non-cosmetic work), and health insurance. I clear roughly $60k a year and I work 60 hours a week. To say I don't care is an insult. Be more specific when calling out employers.

What everyone seems to be missing here is that the US health "industry" is the most ludicrously overpriced in the world. There is absolutely no reason that medical care should have those kinds of costs associated with it. It is plain greed in every sector of it that drives insurance costs to be so high. From the doctors, to the hospitals, to the drug companies, to the insurance companies. All of them need to have their fees and profits slashed to bring insurance costs down to a reasonable and affordable level.

I've already considered it. This is what they do in Europe and now this is what's going to be done in the states. We'll also develop a black market employment just like in Europe. This reality is like straight out of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shurgged book.

The reform is actually going to make it cheaper for companies to provide insurance. it is not going to cost them. If you find information otherwise on a RELIABLE source i would be interested......But all RELIABLE sources right now are saying pretty much that the companies that cut hours are only making mistakes that they were warned would hurt them and to me at that point it is their own dumb fault. They will loose their employees and be stuck trying to find people who want to work for a company that doesn't offer full time. They will then be forced to go back to offering 40 hour weeks to be able to get employees! So lets be smart about our choices here!

You have got to be kidding me. Pure ignorance. You have obviously never been even close to a management or ownership position. If you want "RELIABLE" sources just look around at all the Big and Small businesses that are closing or laying off personnel.

Yes, you must be right. The economy is strong and those people who are not working are very reluctant and choosy when and if ever they are presented with a new position.

At the start of the year I'm being forced to pay for health insurance for myself and my son. 300 dollars a month they just take out of my check.

Why are business owners complaining if I'm paying for it?

my government takes away roughly half of my paycheck, every month. in return, i get subpar healthcare (it used to be better) and access to the whole social wellfare/wellness system should i need it (which include pension funds, but those have been gambled away by bad investments; the next generation of elder will have no pension, but they did pay for it their entire life).
