Re: 1,613,277 of you voted for a third party giving the election to Obama
I was going to vote third party, but I voted for Obama. I can't stomach the far right social agenda. We need a candidate who values individual freedom but is fiscally conservative. I was tempted to vote for the libertarian candidate, but thought that would be throwing my vote away.

If Romeny could have been the Romney he was a decade ago, he likely would have gotten my vote. Too much shape shifting and going closer toward people who think that women who are raped should be the vessels for rapists' seed.

We don't need burkas and women shot in the face in this country. The far right in the U.S. has more in common with that than you realize.

Totally get what you're saying! On the surface your point sounds reasonable but it is (respectfully) terribly flawed!

The fact is that people have been corralled to the point where they've bent their knee and surrendered to the idea that they only have one of two choices, along with the concession that they have to vote for "the lesser of two evils"! Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil!

I'd rather go down standing on the side of righteousness then be guilty of "winning" while standing with evil!

I knew with all my heart that my candidate choice wasn't going to win - but (respectfully) I believe it will be easier to answer God on that matter: "Lord, I voted for the one who stood for you!"
Lastly – please remember that God is Absolutely Sovereign and appoints our leaders…thus we, collectively as a nation are getting the leaders we deserve!

Instead of bashing each other, let's work together to find a solution. If you voted for a third party for moral reasons, where are your morals when it comes to your fellow American. First and foremost, you have a right to your own opinion, as do I. Second, stop being a stooge in the efforts to divide us as a nation. Everyone will never agree 100%. Compromise to get to the end goal of fair elections. We will never get there if we keep tearing one another apart.

So true.

So many people were angry at me and told me I wasted my vote.

I was supposed to vote for the "lesser of two evils".

It's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. There are other choices, why vote for any evil?

People are not only treated like cattle but act like their cattle when they have the power for change but refuse to do anything about it because they feel they have to choose corral A or Corral B.

People who choose not to find greener pastures are the first to blame everyone else for their own lack of courage and foresight.

Re: 1,613,277 of you voted for a third party giving the election to Obama
-about 60,000 people voted for conservative 3rd party candidates in Ohio. Obamas margin there is about 101,000 votes. A margin of 51,000 for the President, even if all 60,000 voted for Romney.

-In Colorado about 37,000 voted for conservative 3rd party candidates. The Presidents margin of victory there stands at 105,000 roughly. Still a 68,000 vote advantage for the President. Even if all 37,000 voted for Romney.

-In Nevada the President is winning by a margin of 66,000 votes. 20,000 voted 3rd party. Still 46,000 votes more for the President.

-In Va 107,000 margin for Obama. 52,000 3rd party. +55,000 Obama.

-In Wi Obama +200,000. 33,000 3rd party. Not even close.

-In Pa. Obama +284,000. 69,000 3rd party. Again, not even close.

Your argument just doesnt wash. You lost, to the President. Stop blaming others and look at your parties' platform and ideas. Which are out of step with mainstream america.

but that wasn't going to happen. the dums are not going to split off into a 3d party, the reps needed the 3d party vote to beat the dums.

3 or more parties is pie in the sky you don't get to eat. either beat the dems or not. this 3d party bullshit handed the dems another election. like it did last time. it will next time too.

The way I see it the people that voted for Johnson could say the same thing. If you voted for Romney instead of Johnson you gave the win to Obama. Its all relative. If everyone votes for who they believe in maybe the outcome will be true. Stop trying to play the game and just let the votes fall the way they fall.

People crying about "3rd party vote stealers" are probably the most ignorant of the voters.

Show me something that says people would have voted Mitt the Twit/Oblabla if there was no 3rd party?

Better yet, show me why your popular vote matters in the face of the electoral college?

EVEN BETTER yet, show me why voting would change anything? You'd exchange your "socialist Kenyan" for another Wall St. Crony, big fucking deal.

Re: 1,613,277 of you voted for a third party giving the election to Obama
I agree with you, but third parties never get equal media attention and therefore will not be able to win. The system would have to change first. Laws would have to be put in place that guaranteed equal media. Do you think that will happen. I would love to see it happen as much as you. People have been trying this for years and years. The result is always the same. Third party votes pull from the challenger.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21531034

It's not about 'winning' when you vote third party. It is about being honest enough to stand up and say "I have no problem with voting for someone I know will lose, because I think both of the mainstream candidates are pieces of shit and neither of them deserve the office but I'll be damned if I sit aside and don't voice who I think would run the country the best."

It just so happens, sir (I assume), that if you'd chosen Dr. Paul, this would not have happened. I know of many democrats who would have willingly and gladly voted for Dr. Paul, as well as multiple independents and republicans. He would have mopped the floor with Obama. Instead, you chose someone who lied constantly, lacked in everything but money, and whose own previous constituents voted nearly 2 to 1 for Obama.

And you did not do it because he was the best republican for the job or the ballot. You did it to try and pass an agenda, and failed, because people like to know who and what they are voting for when they vote for a presidential candidate. And many, many people did not want any part of that man.

("You" meaning the collective "you", in the above statement.)

And yes it did make a difference.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21531034

200k in California alone. No difference.
50k in Colorado, no difference.
16k in Connecticut, no difference.
5k Delaware, no difference.
About 63k 3rd partiers in Florida. Vote difference was 46k. I doubt Romney would have gotten ~73% of those votes to propel him to win.
7k in Hawaii, no difference.
84k in Illinois, no difference.
20k in Indiana, no difference.
44k Maryland, no difference.
47k in Massachusetts, no difference.
41k in Michigan, no difference.
59k Minnesota, no difference.
19k Nevada, no difference.
34k New Jersey, no difference.
32k New MExico, no difference.
86k New York, no difference.
88k Ohio, NO DIFFERENCE.
38k Oregon, no difference.

I really don't think I need to go on. All that was assuming everyone voting 3rd party voted for Romney instead.
