If you read the results closely, the country actually veered less liberal in this election (go look at the chart on the front page of the NYTimes right now).

Overall though, it probably is more liberal because the nation is changing. Republicans in general have neglected young folks, women, blacks, latinos, etc...it's not only about white men.

What you are seeing now is the effects that George Bush had on the GOP. The GOP is creepy and really undesirable now. Bush has done such a great job tainting the name of the GOP, he has rendered it completely unable to win an election. His last term term literally destroyed the GOP. You are seeing the results of that on this election.

The sooner you delusional idiots wake up to that fact, the sooner you can win an election.

It is now impossible to ever elect a Republican President. The Demographics will not allow it. Kiss the retard party good bye. Ha Ha.

Man what a labyrinth of useless side trips.

'12 selection is the same as '04 selection of incumbent.
Pick lackluster posterboy to ensure the incumbent stays in.
I said this when romney was selected strawdog, same as kerry who made dems cry with boredom.

Memories are way too short, (sadly). Meaning this carrot stick game can go on four-score-and-seven and people are too f*cking stupid to SIMPLY PERCEIVE THE OBVIOUS PATTERN.

'16 is when we'll have Rethuggery in a sledgehammer. ELE or whichever comes first.

Have fun and get your novocaine.

The term liberal has no meaning these days. They're nothing more than faux liberals acting like commies or socialists. Nothing to do with personal freedom or so called classical liberalism.

And no, republicans have not neglected these people. Learn how to do a proper research on it.

Why am I not surprised nobody cares about patterns of how they're being played and what is really happening, instead would rather larry moe & curley each other from their little holes in the ground.

Instead of mommy/daddy vs glasnaght there is a middle ground called

A civilized society.

Treat people well, get some manners and see what happens.

That's pretty funny. Labeling people as socialists when you are living in a social democracy is even more funny. You are clearly making humor there, socialist.

I guess that's why they voted so overwhelmingly for Romney. Oh wait, they didn't...

It's not about what I'm saying right now though, the debate has already started about how clueless and out of touch the republican party has become.

I'll happily vote republican again (being a lifelong r) when they find some quality candidates - which seems to be very difficult lately.

that's what happens when you elect the guy that finished second to McCain in 08. self explanatory and expected, but most Americans are too stupid to see that Romney is a puppet and so was McCain, it's always whoever the elites put in the race, both sides are puppets to the same handler...

work it out

good point. if they were so close, you would think that actual voting results would be 50/50 obama/romney, and ALL obama is unusual.

Oh bull. That's a meme that dull minded, sheeple libs love to perpetuate. Listen to yourself. You sound like a talking point.

The fact is that there are many types of people in the Republican party who strive to accomplish great things in their lives. That is what America WAS all about.

These are people of all colors and all cultures, who are independent thinkers, want freedom from stifling gov't policies, and do not choose to live on the democratic plantation!

How sad you are. How racist and judgmental you are. If someone doesn't agree with your small minded, narrow view of the world, then they are insignificant, right?

I happen to LIKE white men. But they're only a small part of the Republican party.

Just keep yapping away while you take this country down with your ridiculous talking points. Oh, and make sure you get your hands on an Obama phone. Wouldn't want to miss his call when he hands out your free birth control.

There are 2 types of conservatives in the republican party. The fiscal conservatives, and the social conservatives.

The fiscal conservatives have taken over the party, most republicans are not fiscal conservative, they are more moderate.

Most republicans are social conservatives. A large majority of america are social conservatives.

Romney was a moderate liberal push by the fiscal (the rich) of the party. The problem is, there was nothing socially that seperated Romney from Obama. The RNC was allowed to push a fiscal with the assumption the sheep would vote for him.

They couldnt of picked a worse canidate. Even Romney's hometown didn't vote for him.

Social conservatives will have to retake the party if there is ever another republican elected president.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20676524

Good luck with that:

- Same-sex marriage passed in three states
- Affirmation of same-sex marriage ban failed in one state
- Openly gay woman elected to Senate
- Explicitly socially conservative candidates losing all over (Akin, Mourdock, West, etc.)

Here is the problem with the Republican Party and don't forget it. Everyone wants to save money and be free. Republicans in office spend money just like the Democrats and preach freedom while wanting to stick a vaginal probe in your daughter. Got it yet patriots?
