I think if that starts happening that the physical size of Texas would grow as more mid american states join the united states of Texas! whoo hoo!11!! sheep

Only Texas has a legal right to secede. The rest of us would have to wage a civil war of secession.

I'm an Arkansan and I'd gladly support joining Texas in secession. I've always wondered though why we couldn't all just secede from D.C. and the federal government. We could stick those bastards with the debt they created.

This is not true. Any state holds the right to secede. Each state is a soveirgn nation. HENCE THE NAME UNITED STATES. We are not forcefully conjoined states and at anytime we all hold the right to break off. The feds can suck a fat one, they are not in charge.

The right of a state to secede was determined during the civil war. The states do not have that right. Texas however, entered the union with a constitution endorsed by the US gov't that specifically gives Texas that right. Regardless of what is right or wrong only Texas has a legal right to secede. I'd betcha a dollar even that would mean nothing. If they tried to secede a war would break out.

I've always thought this was silly. If a state wants to secede, do you really think it would ask for permission, get denied and then just stand down? Oh no, the government I want to leave won't allow me to leave. Guess the revolution is over guys, they won't sign the official paperwork.
