so from what i gather on this, several states have legalised recreational use of cannabis... Given that the uk tends to follow what usa does, think we'll be next in line? All pending that the tories get booted out next elections that is.

2 US states legalized it. A third state tried but the votes were not there.

I think every country in the world should legalize the herb.

I just wonder what's going to happen to the people imprisoned in those states for marijuana charges?

Would like to think they'll be pardoned, but have a feeling that wont happen :(
2 states combined with the medical laws is still a huge jump compared to just 20 years ago. In scotland it's illegal but to be honest the police don't really give a damn unless you're dealing. The showed at tne door one night a year back because the music was a bit too loud, and despite the fact there was an ounce on the table and the place reeked of green, never even mentioned it. The beat cops know fine well that stoners are no harm to anyone.

In the UK, no - not under this government anyway or Labour even. Looked what happened when their appointed scientist called for legalisation.

Labour despite being described as liberal actually have quite restrictive attitudes at times.

Libdems are also full of shit. They always said if they got in they would do and has it even been brought up?

Has it fuck.

Then again, maybe with outright legalisation in colorado/washington it'll open up their minds a little. Spain seems to be going the same way.

Imagine what it would to to the economy! But then, we already knew that. :(
