What did we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly the evildoers prosper, and even those who challenge God escape.’” Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name. “They will be mine,” says the Lord Almighty, “in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not. -Malachi 3:13-18 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. Matthew 7:16-20 I feel America weeping. Many woke up today with a numbness in their soul after leaving the seat of the emotional roller coaster ride they were on last night. My original intuitive feeling about who would be the President for the next four years, turned out to be right. It always is--but I didn't want it to be. I allowed hope to trump my intuition. Hope that a positive change was going to come. Why was I driven to vote, knowing that I was going against what my soul was telling me all along? It has to do with goodness and righteousness. All that has been morally right and good in this life is disappearing, and now it appears it will continue on. The innocent will continue to be slaughtered, and those who work hard will be punished while those who don't will be rewarded. Any freedoms we have left will continue to be systematically taken away from us. And because political correctness demands tolerance of everything, men and women of faith will see more persecution. You know, a lot of fruit DID rot in America this year, as a result of the drought. But I'm talking about a different kind of fruit and a different kind of drought. A Spiritual Drought--in the heart of man and it's producing decay and rotten fruit. The fruit on the tree is rotting. A real change needs to come. And it will not be through any re-elected man who appears to be in control and offers false promises of moving forward. A real change will only come when the heart in man changes--and only God can change a heart. "A NEW HEART WILL I GIVE YOU, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU, and CAUSE you to walk in My Statutes, and you shall KEEP My Judgments, and DO them" Ezekiel 36:26-27 Which Jesus do you know? The one I know said to love your neighbor as you love yourself. Take care of the poor and the sick, give up all your riches and follow me. I do not know the one that said spew hate, collect all the wealth and let the widow and children starve and live on the streets. Where is this Jesus from? |

KoFFee_ (OP) User ID: 1373078 United States 11/07/2012 08:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh, for Grace to watch and pray lest we, also, become “hardened through the deceitfulness of sin”! This deceivableness is further seen in the excuses which it frames afterwards. It needs a great general to cover a retreat and conduct it to a safe conclusion. Sin knows how to furnish a rear-guard for itself lest it be assailed by the troops of repentance. To screen the conscience from regret is one of the efforts of deceitful sin. “Ah,” says the man to himself, “I did wrong but what can you expect of poor flesh and blood?” To hear him talk you would think him a pitiable victim, rather than a blameworthy offender! With a sham tear in his eyes he lays this flattering unction to his soul—that he is weak but not wicked—he was compelled to do wrong! He deludes himself into thinking he would not have thought of it had there not been a necessity. Beware of aptness in the making of an excuse! And above all beware of casting the blame of sin on Providence, or on God. Sin will also add, “And, after all, though you were wrong, yet you were not so bad as you might have been. And considering the temptation, you may wonder at your own moderation in transgression. On the whole, you have behaved better than others would have done.” Thus the sinner will weave a garment out of the cobwebs of his sins. Selfrighteousness is poor stuff when it can be fashioned even out of our faults! Such is the deceivableness of sin, that it makes itself out to be praiseworthy. Quoting: KoFFee_ Heb. 3:12-13 "the deceitfulness of sin." As usual, an OP filled with insight and wisdom. Thanks for saying it so well. Hello, Once4All, God's word is best. And I love reading Spurgeon! I wish there was a preacher like that in a church near me. I'd attend service. Sin in the heart of man is what is causing all our problems. Many don't recognize it anymore. It's deceitful. Spurgeon continues to say: How does that come about? Partly through our familiarity with sin. We may look at hateful sin till we love it. At first you are shocked by sin—but if you see it every day it will cease to distress you. This is one of the sad influences of sin—it makes the heart rough by contact with it. The lion in the fable alarmed the fox when first he saw him but soon he ceased to tremble at him and at last made him his companion. Familiarity with sin makes the conscience dull and at length deadens sensibility. Security in wrongdoing also leads to this kind of hardening. I am always glad when I hear of a young gambler whose pocket is cleaned out at his first venture—if he has any wit he will quit the way of destruction—at least we hope he will. But if he gains at first he will stake more and more and become a confirmed gamester. It is just so with sin. Its deceitfulness is assisted by a man’s being able to go a little further and a little further without any great hurt appearing to come of it—and so the heart grows used to the increasing heat and is hardened to it—until he can live in a furnace heated seven times hotter by sin. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:24 "This man really is the Savior of the world!"
