I'm going to side with the government on this one.

Who wants to go through another storm (and a cold one this time) with no power and the left over disaster from the first? That just sounds miserable.

Not that I'm saying people should be forced to comply...just that I can see the reason they probably should take the advice.

I am too against mandatory evacuations though because of the slippery slope.

You're obviously not familiar with this area. You don't just evacuate this many people. The roads are jammed all the time in the NY/NJ metro area during normal times. It would be one giant gridlock and people would be dying in their cars.

A few days ago I was talking to my neighbor, both of us are still without power. He had to break into a political rant, expounding all the liberal talking points and contradicting himself several times. I vote third party anyway so had no energy or mood to tell him what a stupid brainwashed asshole he was (a teacher, no surprise).

He finishes his rant by saying, "All I know is I just want my power back on..."

HEY JACKASS... have you been paying attention? It's your Obammy who's for wind power and all that happy horseshit! You think wind power is gonna bring trucks full of gasoline to your neighborhood? You think wind power is gonna refine that gas and get it to distribution points?

I can't count how many serious storms I've been through in the states and I never once saw a free bus heading out, it was all just people in cars. Was I just in the wrong neighbourhood or are the elderly and broke just screwed? How can they even drive out if none of them have enough gas after the whole post storm gas crisis? Sitting in bumper to bumper evacuation traffic eats up gas (been there, done that), where in the hell are they supposed to get more?
