I actually think this is going to go well. If the republicans do nothing and fillabuster any Obama plans then he will let the Tax increase happen on January first and everyone will blame the repubs who refused to work with him.

Most blacks have felt that Obama has not received the same treatment that POTUS's generally have in modern times. The questioning of the birth certificate, the Republican spawned "jokes" of things like the White House now having a watermelon garden instead of a front lawn and the many other "dog whistle" positions and remarks made over the last four years actually created a backlash that ultimately counteracted the backlash that was created when Obama was elected in 08.

Many blacks feel he would not have had half of the negative/disrespectful things directed at him had he been white. That treatment or at least the perception of such made blacks feel like the Republicans were more interested in seeing Obama fail than seeing the country succeed and so, even the ones who weren't happy with how the last four years went, felt compelled to back Obama because they feel like he wasn't given a fair shot at governing.

There are as many whites as there are blacks that would vote on racial lines, but putting those groups aside, the rest of the whites, blacks, latinos, etc actually vote on who they think will do better or worse, period. The broad brush painting of the black electorate was a mistake in 08 and it was a mistake again in 2012 for it says to that electorate that despite how many elections you may have voted in before there was ever an Obama running and that vote was seen as a legitimate choice based on policy, position and belief, when it comes to Obama, it's only because he's half black.

Now those who read this may say it's bullshit, etc, yadda yadda yadda, but I would say last night's election is the proof. If the republican party has any hopes of surviving, they will either need to expand their thinking along with their party or they will eventually disappear into thin air. The pining away for a 1950's America to return will never happen. Why? Well America is full of people of color now and none of them want to return to the social policies of the 50's for obvious reasons. The other assertion that the country was somehow "stolen" was also insulting to those who voted for Obama, as if a vote for him is somehow illegitimate and shouldn't be counted.

So, as the OP said, he won, get over it.
