I don't understand the "productive" part either....are they really that productive?

Work comes from thinking. You can't make a chair if the idea isn't there first. Obviously all comes from thinking. Coming up with medicines and ways to connect electrical cords comes from thinking as well. We all think in productive manners. Philosophers and scientists of the past like Einstein did a lot of thinking which brought a lot of evolution to the human race. Without them, who knows where the world would be.

I see that smart kids or people who value life in schools or in life are ridiculed and shut down, why is that? Why are smart intelligent people looked down on by the all powerful assholes of this planet?

It's mental manipulation, people have been fearing it, waiting for some kind of special complicated machine to manipulate their thoughts without noticing that they've been doing that to them for thousands of years.

So your saying engineers who constantly think are lazy even though they are the ones who create the foundations for the work before it is physically done. Smart people who value life beyond its current terms are not all lazy. A monkey can push rocks all he wants, but if there is no idea to the pushing of that rock and why it's there then there is no basis to do anything. Thinking is the first step to physical productivity. You can't have one without the other.

If you put a physical air head in a room with a smart "nerd" and tell them to find a way out. The air head is going to slam his way out and the "nerd" will most likely analyze the room first. You will need both the mind and the body to find a way out.

If Karl Marx would have spent more time making capital than thinking about capital, the world would be less of cesspool of shit it is today.

Think back to high school: nerds, jocks... those people grew up.

The nerds in blue states stayed, got an education and shared their intelligence and gifts. The nerds in red states got out, moved to a blue state and did the same. Jocks in red states stayed, opened up a mechanic shop or used car lot, touted their ability to "make capital and jobs" or started working for minimum wage for the slightly smarter jock who owned the mechanic shop or used car lot. Jocks in blue states moved to red states and did the same.

Why are the so-called "intelligent" young people so obsessed with dominating others and controlling their lives? Did it ever occur to you that others might not want your "help?" I just want to be left alone. I don't care if someone thinks they have a better way for me to live. I will make my own choices and accept the consequences for said choices, be they good or bad. I am not anyone else's liability but my own and friends or family members that will voluntarily lend me a hand if I need one.

Here's a tip. Don't try to change the world. Change yourself. If you think bullies run everything, don't beg them for power and grovel at their feet. Walk away from those bullies and empower yourself. Be the change you want to be and associate with other like minded individuals.

Funny thing, I've never met an engineer who was a "hippie" or a "commie" or even that much of a "nerd". And I've known a few, both from my generation and my father's generation.

And most (if not all) engineers don't need to preface their "thinking" with a bong session. There's nothing wrong with hippies, they do a LOT of thinking but not a lot of DOING anything about what they were thinking.

As for the "wise, smart children", most of the OWSers are directly descended from hippies. And we see how THAT philosophy turned out - rather than "wise" and "smart" they are ego-centric whining gibmedats who expect everyone ELSE to pay for THEIR toys, choice of education, and abortions.

"Don't rock the boat" or otherwise known as "that activity may lead to a loss of profit$" or lastly if TPTB believe "if it ain't broke those hippies can't fix it".
