The economy collapsed because of capitalism, not in spite of it.

An education is soon in store for you. You want to see the future? Read Russian history. I am not anti-capitalist, and in fact neither was Marx. Capitalism is necessary for a while, but it also has the fundamental flaw of inequality that ultimately destroys itself. It cannot work as an economic system forever, that is an indisputable fact. Believe it or not, socialism, when applied smartly, can actually extend the lifespan of capitalism significantly. None of us are equal. There is no equal outcome possible without equal input of effort. If wealth inequality exists, it isn't the fault of the wealthy, it is the fault of those who were not willing to do the things the wealthy did to become that way. No one is stoping you, but you. That is entirely beside the point. Late-stage capitalism creates such an extreme inequality that it ultimately undermines society to the point that capitalism fails. It destroys itself. As a matter of pragmatism, socialism actually makes capitalism workable for all of society rather than only a few, thereby allowing capitalism to exist for longer than it could otherwise. Personal wealth is of limited value in the absence of social wealth.
