People sometimes ask: ‘But why do the Lords of Destiny treat those who are the most remarkable, the most noble, so harshly?’ So that these beings may have the opportunity to surpass themselves and give the best of themselves. If they were surrounded by people who applauded them, flattered them and made everything easy for them, they would be lulled to sleep. They would become weak, dull and incapable of producing works that were as profound, as great.
