Quoting: TS66 So where do I sign up to stop paying for it ??? Anyone, anyone ????? I think I see...Its just like paying for a years worth of freeze dried food and getting nothing but empty boxes. Our taxpayers money is paid into the system with the understanding that services will be provided to us in return. Well actually, taxpayers' money is paid into the system because if it's not paid, the taxpayer will be raked over the coals by the IRS. As for what they do with the money after that, maybe the IMF hasn't approved luxuries like shelter and meals for this little bump in the road. |

But don't get me wrong, if it could prevent one death, end some suffering, this I would not begrudge anyone. But as always, sometimes you have to hit people's pocketbooks to finally get them to wake up. And people, we have been getting ripped off since 1913 .... and this is the result. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 10783814 United States 11/07/2012 11:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is so sad.. Quoting: Good luck ya all 1064048 I am so despondant (sp?)from what i have seen, not sure if i want to know any more.............. Yes PREPARE... Stay safe OMG! This is the lowest of the low. Are they doing anything for the homeless at all????? I've read so many posts here from people who are seemingly without compassion and have said some terrible things about the storm victims . . . add to that, Chris Matthews saying he's glad the storm happened - and add to THAT, the digusting failures of the government - once again - to help the citizenry in need. Most of the country apparently thinks it was a big storm, did a lot of damage, and they've just picked up the pieces and business as usual . . . I read one report that said some areas won't have gas service for several more months because sea water got into the lines and they have to be replaced . . . and other places where NO ONE is helping. What the hell has happened to America and humanity? Apparently most people haven't heard these stories because the MSM didn't want it to reflect poorly on dear leader. I don't really know... I don't watch the MSM. |

I clicked on the link thinking, there has to be more to this. If there is, I didn't see it in that piece. There is no mention of who made the call to pull the FEMA Centres, just when they are needed more than ever. To leave those needing support, when a NorEaster is moving in, is sacraligious! horrendous! and unbelievable! My heart and prayers go out to those who have been left in the lurch. |

Here is a snip explaining their reason, but i have a feeling you aren't going to be satisfied with their reason. FEMA spokesman Carter Langston said that the mobile centers were shuttered and staff moved inland because they were not structurally sound enough to weather the storm, which could put their staff in danger. "Because these are mobile centers, they were shut down for life safety," Langston said. "As soon as weather permits tomorrow, they’re going to be back in place [possibly by noon]." The remaining five sites in the city — in Staten Island, Coney Island, the Rockaways and The Bronx — were also closed or in the process of shutting down. Read more: [link to www.dnainfo.com] |

[link to www.hamptons.com] But that place looks pretty chilly for people trying to stay warm. Where do they go/ The type shelters that are normally set up, planned in advance. Each state, town, probably has dedicated set ups. Once the storm is over, FEMA will resume. With a storm raging, that isn the time for these people to be finding a place to stay out of the cold,. not ot be coming in to get water, fill out forms for damages, etc. I'm not being brutal, this is just realistic. |
