 Quoting: MC Sqiggily D

I'm not totally sure of the big picture as much as she is but she is worried about the quality of care that people will get. There are issues with bringing new patients into a practice and the paperwork is excessive to say the least.

Yes, the US has graduated some of the finest Doctors in the world, at a price for them. We have all benefitted from their willingness to forge through years of education, only to finally graduate with a student loan beyond what most make in their lives, but they finally get to reap the benefits of their years of persistance to arrive where there is a payoff.
Who in their right mind would deny them the payoff? Everyone has benefitted from their dedication, the whole world for that matter.

Welcome your new Doctor from Yemen or jamaica, recently graduated on US tax dollars, by the "UN Global Managed Health Care Systems" -language barrier true, but hey, live or die, you did get to see the Doctor, thanks to socialized medicine.
 Quoting: Ohwow!

Its been happening but will go on with greater frequency. Having been in the medical field I can say from experience there are very few foreign trained doctors I would go to for care. Of course there are poorly trained American physicians but overall the foreign ones I have seen are not as knowledgeable and sometimes are lazy and don't want to see their patients in the hospital.

We just had a doctor from China in our town who was reprimanded by the medical board for not returning the calls of a nurse regarding a patient going bad. Apparently not his first time.

She's probably crying because she won't make as much money. Boo boo.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11758031

My favorite parts about this statement, is that you are too stupid to realize that the best doctors make the most money. Which means, it would no longer be profitable for them to continue their practice. Instead of experienced, good doctors, you are going to get useless pile of worthless shit, running around in lab coast working for bottom fucking dollar. I hope you get sick as hell, admitted to a hospital, then accidentally given a lethal dose of some insanely painful medication, all because you opted for fast food medicine.

Stupid fucking useful idiot.

Do you really have to pay cash to get fixed in the hospital in America.

What if you are severly injured or dying and you dont have enough money to pay them, what happens, or do you have to pay first.

I'm keen to understand how the system works now, and what affect this new system will have, could someone explain for me please.

Re: My sister called me today, she's a doctor.
My sister is a doctor (OB), she called me today and said she had been crying since last night. She is beside herself. Now that the final nail has been driven into the US medical industry it's hit her hard.
Main issue for doctors is that they are being mandated too and regulated like never before. Most of Obamacare focuses on regulations, not the patient. That's what most people don't get. It's all about reporting back to the government. They will be determining your treatments and watching every facet of your "care".
This is scary. Take some time and dissect the bill. It's a whopper, makes our tax code look like 1st grade reading.

Re: My sister called me today, she's a doctor.
The problem is not the insurance companies, as much as liberals like to say that. One problem is tort laws that allow lawsuit for ridiculous things. If a doctor has a patient with a pain, and 99% of the time it can be diagnosed with simple procedures, but there is an infinitesimal chance the procedure might miss something, they send them on to the cat scan or MRI to avoid a potentially devastating lawsuit. This often costs the insurance company thousands of dollars. Obama stated early on he was against tort reform, because lawyers contribute heavily to the Dems.

Another problem is the welfare people that check in with "stomach pains" to get a clean bed, color TV with remote, free drugs, and three squares a day. Dozens did this on a regular basis at his hospital in a major city. It costs tax payers tens of thousands every day.

The final problem is that Medicare sets the standards that all doctors have to comply with. My oldest son is in his second year of residency. They are literally working him to death. He was a great kid, Eagle Scout, worked 40 hour weeks while going to college. Graduated college in three years.

In his first year of residency he saw the truth. In his internal medicine rotation he could see one patient every 30 minutes. 7-8 minutes seeing the patient, 20 minutes filling out redundant forms, required everywhere because of Medicare standards. He has 200,000 of med school debt, and now his future is being stripped from him by obamacare.

I highly advise potential premeds to think twice about going to med school. Mountains of debt, delayed income, then a mountain of government regulations, now obamacare.

I don't write this for the hard headed liberals on here. I write this for the real people who live in the real world, that really want to understand the problems.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26085824

No liberal tried to refute my post, so I'll bump it. Maybe at least one of them is open minded enough to learn something from some who has actually heard first hand what is going on.

Not sure why ANYONE would have sympathy for physicians who have been willing participants in not one, but TWO systems that are unconscionably corrupt, self-serving, and deceitful - aka: the American medical industry and big pharma.

Most doctors hate people who ask questions, they actively work to deny the fact that there are often safe alternatives, they have no compunction about prescribing drugs they KNOW are dangerous just so they can get their country club kickbacks, they push treatments on people knowing full well they will not be helped, and it is in THEIR best interest for everyone to remain borderline sick/healthy.

Whining and crying doctors? Boo-frigging-hoo.

He ASKED how it works here, He wanted to know if people are turned away if they are dying. I told him how it worked for poor people that needed emergency medical treatment but couldn't pay for it. Also informed him that you don't have to pay upfront to receive emergency treatment. It's a fact. What's your issue?

I wasn't advocating for people to just stroll into an ER for a cold, jack up a large bill and force taxpayers to handle it.

Calm the fuck down.

7 docs in a month couldnt find five huge arterial blood clots. Never tested me. Leg gone. Quarter of a million dollars was the bill for the chop. And a fake leg, well, you better have a lot of money, most insurance doesn't cover one. And so goes my own experience with hospitals and doctors. But lucky me, now I'm permanently disabled and qualify for all kinds of freebies! Just, not a leg. Wish I was a lobster sometimes. Damn nature.

Personally, I'd much prefer the doctor who graduated magna cum laude after 12 - 15 years of medical schooling! Of course, with Obamacare, we'll all pbe getting those rent-a-docs straight off the boat from Haiti......

Many Doctors that have a practice in TJ, also have their main practice in San Diego. They are well educated receiving their docorate fromt Ivy league schools and doing their residencies at hospitals like Cedar Sinai in LA. The care is excellent, though you have to pay cash.

The meds are 1/8 of the cost you'd pay in the US, due to big pharma jack.

A friend of mine gets her husbands heart meds in TJ (pays $60.00) for a three month supply, in SoCal, the cost is ($500.00) for a 30 day supply).

I know many people that cross the border for excellent medical care and pay cash, having already checked the credentials of the Doctor from their San Diego practice. Though, you cannot sue if you get fucked up.

My doctors are now tethered to a computer that half the time doesn't work, or loses files. Just watch there are gonna be alot of them that are gonna shut and lock their doors. When I say tethered I mean they have to drag the damn thing around with them while seeing patients. I thought one of mine was gonna cry today. This is no aunt or uncles or third hand story this is what I saw and heard myself. I hope, having cancer that I am grandfathered in as my treatment began in 2010.
