Now I'm telling you this. Start deciding if you're going to kick back and toke it up in Colorado, or you're going to try to secede in Texas. I'm saying that these Canadian earthquakes are very significant to the future of the entire world, especially the U.S. Anybody care to look and see what Edgar C. had to say about it all?

where did you get the tsunami info? can you post a link, please. I looked at [link to ptwc.weather.gov] which I believe is what you're mentioning, but they haven't registered the event as of yet.

Family in Vancouver felt nothing.

People are just hooked on doom. They don't understand that the ring of fire is the most active tectonic area in the world, and has been firing off earthquakes and volcanoes of this magnitude (and even more powerful) for a billion years. It's best to just let the uneducated panic, it seems to give their life at least one purpose.

People should understand that the previous quake near Queen Charlotte island is tied to this quake at Vancouver Island. They're all part of the Juan de Fuca plate traversing under the West coast. One of two things are in the process of happening: 1. Tension is being relieved as the plate makes it way under ensuring a cataclysmic event is avoided. or 2.(GLPs favorite)The Cascadia Event. The entire plate will have a starting point-slip and will chain react as the plate moves under causing at LEAST a 9M quake along the ENITRE Juan de Fuca plate and not being a centralized event which is actually the best outcome. Should be interesting to watch.

Shit the next big one is gonna be either Cascadia or San Andreas.

Saw a Facebook news feed from King5.com and was going to post. Op beat me to it. Was fixing dinner at that time and had a very strong ear tone. Almost felt like my ear was going to pop. I also felt kinda of dizzy for about a minute and a half. Not quite dizzy, but like I felt uneasy. Seattle area here.

Once again, yes, this is the ROF action, however, these quakes have been bigger and more frequent in the last 6 months. What used to be a 1-3 mag's regularly has increased to 4-6+ mag's. I've been monitoring the USGS site since 2008, that's alot of daily monitoring. They are bigger and much more frequent, period.

I've lived here most of my life...we never had the frequency of quakes we have now (2010-2012).

Okay let me explain to you how tectonic plates work: when one plate moves, other plates will move, shift, slide and slip as well.. thus increased activity over a period of time. This happens a LOT. A recent example was the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan last year. Look at the Pacific around that time period and see how many other 6.5+ quakes there were around the same time/month. So yes, there has been lots of activity lately, and there will be more activity forthcoming.

I really can't believe people on this forum do not research something as simple to understand as tectonic plates.. especially since the majority of them think it's going to be the end of days. As a academic scholar it really saddens me that as a human being you can't spend 10 minutes studying something you're interested in.

why don't you give us a detailed history of what happens all the time in B.C. or STFU!! Sick of these shit posts

Look at geologic records. Look all around the ring of fire for any time period revolving around large quakes. You see patterns. Scientists aren't some government-controlled conspiracy.. there is a reason they get paid the amount they do, and do the amount of research they do.

I like looking at the Iris Map once in a while, shows how many in an area within 2 weeks. So this quake is closer to land compared to the Charlotte Island region quakes. Kinda making me nervous about that area. Reminds of how Japan started.

quakes have increased, particularly large ones in the PACNW (and worldwide) the past few years. This is indisputable.
