We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids, my husband works full time and I work part time so I can be at home with the kids we make almost $900 a week after tax, on centrelink (welfare) we would make $800, if we sold our house and started to rent again we would also get rent assistance and then get $900, also we would get discounts on everything and not have a mortgage. lucky I don't like rent inspections so we aren't going to do that.. But hows that fair? |

Instead of complaining about that, maybe you should be thankful for the safety net that you have, dumbass. Of course, you could also get off your ass and earn an above-welfare salary anytime. |

What I know she gets is most of her rent paid by HUD and so she lives in a nicer place than I do. Her car is in her kids name. Nicer than mine. She said the key is not having any assets. She gets SSD (Social Security Disability) which makes her leigible for Medicare even though she is not close to 65 and she also has Medicaid and so pays nothing for her healthcare and gets some food stamps and in the winter help with her electric bill. She has told me before to my face that I am a fool for trying to work. So I guess I'm tired of being a fool. It's a sign of complete submission, I have too much pride: my father taught me to be a man. He also taught me that there are plenty of people that aren't as smart or capable as I would be. Those talks instilled a sense of responsibility, for the people that wouldn't be able to provide for themselves. Go ahead and ride the system if you think it will improve your life. I'll continue busting my ass and providing for those of you that are incapable of carrying your own load. Your job will be to carry the shame, of willfully taking advantage of people that have something to contribute. |

They get free housing, free food, free Obama phones, subsidized internet, free medical, and all the money they want to make under the table without any taxes. [link to www.weeklystandard.com] No shit??? Damn! Nemaste It amazes me that people belive everything they read on the ole net. Several years ago, we lived in a fairly upscale neighborhood, were renting a house for $1,300 a month. Next door was a two-story house that was owned by a lazy Vietnamese couple who did absolutely NOTHING to maintain it, and they were renting it out to a black family for $1,500 a month. We found out it was Section 8 - the renters were paying $300 a month - TAXPAYERS were paying the balance to the owners. Point: Many people in America, living on welfare and gov assistance, are living pretty high on the hog. But even though they're living in better areas, you can count on them eventually trashing it out . . . those renters, little by little, moved in more family members, strung a clothesline across the backyard, put crappy old furniture out in the front yard . . . and that one propery de-valued the entire neighborhood. There are apparently no limits now in some states on Section 8 housing, so to everyone who buys or rents a house in what "appears" to be a nice, safe neighborhood: BEWARE the government-sponging spoilers. Upscale for 1300? Shiittt, in northern MD 15 mins south of DC it's 1385 for my 2br 2bath for my wife, and thats an apartment. it is NOT fancy. |

Your job will be to carry the shame, of willfully taking advantage of people that have something to contribute. See, I'm thinking the OP has a damn good point. I have responsibility, yes, and I have pride, to the point it's almost a god complex. But I have a sense of duty to my country, to do what's best for it, my people, and the constitution. As an American citizen, I have to go on welfare and take advantage of every offer the government gives, for the simple fact that the only way to change the system is to first break it. Our leaders will not change the system until that happens. OP has a point, because a month ago I was a taxpaying productive member of society. Today, fuck it. My government doesn't respect my right to bare arms, my freedom of speech, or my freedom to elect what I put in my body, and gives part of my paycheck away to support those I do not know, when I already support friends. Let me choose who I support. Until then, I'm not working to support you. Atlas is getting tired. |
