Serious question: How do I get on welfare, Social Security and Disability? | |

Disability is very difficult to get and you must have a condition that will last more than 12 months or end in death. The average wait time for recipients to get benefits is over 2 years with both SS and the V.A. You will be denied in the beginning unless your nearly unconscious. Many people die while waiting for benefits. Once people get approved, most average 1k a month. Not a great lifestyle in my humble opinion. Those of us that worked 20+ years will do much better, but still don't pay the bills. Getting both SSDI and V.A. will have you making the national median income if you made descent income at your job. Many people also get reviewed and kicked off benefits. |

But here's the thing.. then, he went to work for the local Casey's gas station. Got hired on easily. They have good benefits. Pays about what he made before, I suppose. I have a legitimate disability (3 knee surgeries and severe arthritis). I do not know the first clue on how to go about getting on disability, SSI, Welfare and Food Stamps. For those who want to help crash the system like me but have been a productive member of society all my life, how do I do it? Find a middle aged black woman in the projects, offer to pay-as-you-go for her to lead you through all the steps. You will never and I do mean NEVER accomplish your goal without help. That being said, you could also approach a disability attorney, take all your medical records showing xrays of your knee and descriptions of various surgeries. Only a smallish percentage of disability claims are accepted but I think you can keep trying. It probably helps if you smell a little and have a one day growth of beard when you go see the social security people, just so you don't look too properous and happy. You need to look and act beat down or you will stand out too much. If you don't believe me, go sit at the food stamp place for an hour, gawd.
