This is a link to ALL the federal spending. Any money that goes to corporations or banks has to be included in it. It would be under Discretionary Spending in the Non-Defense part.

There is not enough money there for "Trillions and Trillions" to be going to any banks or corporations.

That's how we got in this mess in the first place, fools thinking the government can do it all and pay for it all.

If they're living better than you, you're not doing very well at all.

It's not just cash and food they get.

I know people that pay 10 dollars a month for electricity and another 10 for gas...all year long for years. That's it. The only way to get on these programs is to be destitute and jobless. So, they make themselves destitute to get the benefits because working for minimum wage is almost impossible these days. They have a better, freer life on welfare. Not necessarily a better way of life.

On the side, they find other things to do such as fix cars or clean house for cash and don't pay any taxes to this crooked fucking government o spend on war and death.

I really don't see the problem here IF it's the collapse of this government that we are all seeking.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27305279

Actually I don't either, as long as everyone including white people has equal access to these programs and benefits.

This is not the case according to much anecdotal evidence. We even had a thread about that once here on GLP and several people agreed. This has got to stop. The welfare lifestyle , such as it is, must be available for everybody or for nobody.

Corporations aren't people? Most likely the reason why, but I'm with you on this one and see your point.

Corporate welfare, especially in the security/defense complex is rampantly corrupt, but they have the lobbyists and ordinary people do not. That's the only difference.

The government is a corporation

Corporations are the problem

Take fishing licenses. Why do individuals need fishing licenses and why can only certain fish and sizes be caught? The government/corporation doesn't own the fish.

The corporations with their big fishing nets are the problem and not the individual fisherman

Corporations are number one problem in this world

Corporate welfare’s sole redeeming quality, to the extent it has any, is its relative size. Washington ladles out about $100 billion a year in handouts to the undeserving rich. That is a minute fraction of federal outlays for social welfare (Medicare alone will cost more than $670 billion this year). But it is still roughly $100 billion too much.

[link to reason.com]

None of those links provided says anything about any TRILLION dollars going to corporations.

Re: Why do you have a problem with people receiving GOV assistants but not corporations?
When food stamps were first expanded nationally in the 1970s, just 1 in 50 Americans participated; today the figure is almost 1 in 7. The program has doubled in size since 2008 and quadrupled since 2001.
Food stamps are one of nearly 80 means-tested federal welfare programs, including 17 for nutritional support. Collectively, these programs cost $700 billion annually, plus $200 billion in state contributions.
From 2001 to 2006 the food stamp budget doubled, even as unemployment remained around five percent.
Food stamps make up 80 percent of the current farm bill, costing $770 billion over the next 10 years.
Food stamp spending is projected to remain permanently and significantly above pre-recession levels.
Were food stamp spending returned to pre-recession (2007) levels, and increased at the rate of inflation, it would produce 10-year savings of $340 billion. The current farm bill calls for only $4 billion in savings.
The rapid increase in assistance is remarkably similar to the rapid decrease in the ratio of workers to Social Security/Medicare recipients, and it’s just as unsustainable. It’s also a demonstration of how absurd the program has become. We are the wealthiest nation on Earth, and yet 1 in 7 Americans have to get food assistance? More than 40% of us don’t pay federal income taxes, which means the burden of these costs fall on fewer and fewer Americans as well — about 4 in 7, if that. That kind of ratio will lead us to the same entitlement crunch we’re already barreling toward with Social Security and Medicare

[link to hotair.com]

----

So we have $770 billion dollars in food stamp programs alone, that's upwards of a trillion dollars in that one program alone.

It's unsustainable. No way around that.

Recipients have DOUBLED in size since Obama took office.

Well, here we go for another 4 years. Will it double again?
 Quoting: Bluebird

Corporate welfare = MANY, MANY trillions.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27305279

Link??? I don't necessarily doubt it but would like to see it and know under what in the budget this is listed as there doesn't seem to be all that much unaccounted for.
 Quoting: Bluebird

Here is where Anonymous Coward 279 says TRILLIONS and TRILLIONS.

Sounds like something Carl Segan would have said.

It's not trillions but billions.

And I an not for any bailouts, not even the sacred auto one. I don't like corporate bailouts any more than personal ones.

They are both not the duty of the federal government.

That's "government assistance." An Assistant is a helper, assistance is delivered, it is not a person.
"With an eye made quiet by the power of harmony and the deep power of joy, we see into the life of things." William Wordsworth

And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.

John F. Kennedy Inaugural Address

Lincoln's economic advisor Henry C. Carey explained the universal issue in his 1851 Harmony of Interests:

"Two systems are before the world.... One looks to pauperism, ignorance, depopulation, and barbarism; the other to increasing wealth, comfort, intelligence, combination of action, and civilization. One looks towards universal war; the other towards universal peace. One is the English system; the other ... the American system, for ... elevating while equalizing the condition of man throughout the world."

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." - Albert Einstein

Note no where do I say veterans, social security, and so forth. Those are things people paid or gave into. It's the 100% freebies I oppose.

Most recently, Bloomberg provided an in-depth analysis of Fed lending to the biggest banks, reporting a sum of $7.77 trillion. On December 8, Bernanke struck back with a highly misleading and factually incorrect memo countering Bloomberg’s report.

You do know that the Federal Reserve is a panel or whatever you would call it, of PRIVATE BANKS. It is NOT the federal government. It is PRIVATE MONEY, not our taxes.

Obviously I am dealing with a child here and wasting my time.

Re: Why do you have a problem with people receiving GOV assistants but not corporations?
Corporate welfare’s sole redeeming quality, to the extent it has any, is its relative size. Washington ladles out about $100 billion a year in handouts to the undeserving rich. That is a minute fraction of federal outlays for social welfare (Medicare alone will cost more than $670 billion this year). But it is still roughly $100 billion too much.

None of those links provided says anything about any TRILLION dollars going to corporations.

there's nothing to do but to await for collapse and the ensuing wars that will come and decimate the population yet again.
 Quoting: Manu-Koelbren

So, we should be encouraging them.

chuckle
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27305279

Encouraging them for what? There's no way out of the mess we got into, now there's just too many people who think society owes them something and we have a system based on debt money which is waiting to collapse. When it does all the leeches won't be provided for and somehow they will have to be got rid of. The way this happened all throughout history is that nations descend into totalitarianism and the very governments people voted into more power to "protect them" will end up committing genocide against them.
 Quoting: Manu-Koelbren

The people who think society, or more accurately, the government owes them something is a very small part of the whole equation. I'm guessing not even on the radar compared to the other things you spoke of such as the fiat money system. We're talking about 50 million people and around 780 billion a year.

They are a drop in the bucket when placed aside the real reasons why it is all collapsing.

It doesn't matter what they do, the collapse is coming anyway because that's the plan.

To absolutely destroy America.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27305279

Yeah in the grander scale of things they might be minor but the truth is that right now the system has changed so much that even if we suddenly "made things right" it would still be almost impossible to accommodate everyone so they'd be pleased. Many people think, oh if we just used all that money for the wars and corporate bail outs for the people everything'd be fixed, WRONG! it wouldn't be fixed because right now America is living off a bubble of debt money which if corrected would show the reality which is that America doesn't really produce enough to have all their citizens live the way they believe they are entitled to live. ANd this happened precisely because people feel entitled to things that actually need to be produced so they can be enjoyed and they AREN'T being produced anymore.
Banned as usual.

“It is far easier to be a weakling than to be a Real Man. Were the Earth less harsh or the circumstances of life less austere, man would destroy himself before the shrine of the languid goddess. Only Real Men can with safety destroy the tangled forests and wilderness of Earth and make from them gardens, but will those who inherit the gardens be Real Men? The law decrees that they must be, or the wilderness will reclaim its own.”

Re: Why do you have a problem with people receiving GOV assistants but not corporations?
A lot of you people here on GLP seem to think people on welfare(the vets, the disabled, the old, people who make under 20k) are the problem. But there is no outrage or anger for the companies who make billions yet find ways to stick their hands in the pot. When you come one here and make threads about people who receive "handouts" when most of them actually need all the help they can get but fail to mention companies who exploit gov assistants you look like a bunch of selective problem solving hypocrite. How can you sit behind your screen and bash these people yet turn the other way at the real problem. Its like the cop who would rather chase down someone peeing in an ally instead of the guy mugging down the street.

We need to do better.

The problem is both sides are sniffing the others dirty underwear instead of taking off their own and attending to the bushiness of cleaning. There are excesses and indiscretions on both sides no?

Really? Like who? And where?

And it's not just corporations that are the problem. It's the BANKS.

It's obvious as fuck you're a Democrat, since you are spewing the same, idiotic talking points about corporate welfare being the problem and avoiding to talk about THE BANKS.

So stop posting on the internet please. And yes, too much unregulated welfare hurts the poor as well.

Why do you assume that I don't have a problem with people receiving Government assistance? It's both redistribution. Why are you a dumb shill?
