I'd have to add to my safety post that having a life jacket handy for every person would help too. Maybe if people kept them in their cars just in case, And yeah I am thinking of that poor woman in Staten Island who lost her babies.

Why didnt you evacuate? Sounds like you live on the coast near the shore? For your linked post, why didnt you lock your door at night regardless? Having toddlers they could wonder off any night with unlocked doors, regardless of a flood?

Life vests for people who do not evac, but really you should evac when there is a week long period warning you to get out, frankenstorm, and you live on the coast.

Life vests are a great idea for those people who could not/would not evacuate.

Good questions. I did not evacuate because I honestly did not think we were going to get hit. We have had false alarms for years. I did evacuate last year and went an hour away and nothing happened to my home then.
I always locked my doors and i still do. What I meant in that post was to lock people IN-but yes, I think I probably had them locked in but you know how children are-so I am revising my suggestion to say put your babies in life jackets no matter WHERE they are during a potential flood.

Yeah it was real bad. What is left of my house has been on the news every day for the past ten days lol.
I really do not want to appear to brag at all because this was not something that anyone should ever do-(not evacuate), but I am happy that I survived.
And yeah that thing came right down my street the exact center of eye was 4 blocks from my house.
