Jim Corbett's books about hunting the man-eaters of Kumaon and the Rudraprayag leopard are some of the most amazing real-life adventures ever told. The leopards and tigers apparently became accustomed to eating human flesh after the pandemic of 1917, when so many villagers died that their bodies could only be thrown into ditches and valleys, rather than cremated and thrown in the rivers as customary.
Of course there are always numbers of big cats that will become man-eaters if given the opportunity or necessity.
