"Big government" is here to stay. That's already been decided. Pandora's Box has been opened - the technology has been unleashed and it can't be put back. The debate is what exactly "big government" can and should be allowed to do.

When you think about, most small, isolated communities are far more socialistic than the state - people are in each other's business all the time and the community rallies together in good times and bad. Unless you're living like savages I suppose.

And John Galt was a terrorist who murdered innocent people because he had a temper tantrum. But that's conveniently left out of most of these discussion.

And you do need to be a 'big fish' to "go galt" - otherwise no one will notice (or care) that you've left. the whole point is to stick it to the parasites by having the "producers" remove themselves and watch the society "they" built go down in ruins.

Being deluded has never been helpful in survival. A part of this advice, I think, is to help people see things more clearly and stop being deluded. Asking oneself questions like:

What do you own vs. what are you making payments on?

What do you get to spend vs. what goes away in taxes?

Who are you helping and would you rather help someone else instead? Are they helping you in return or working against your interest with the support you give them?

This advice can help you be an economic winner! And the deluded ones are generally the losers, of course.

Now granted if everyone started doing these things, the system would experience massive problems. Personally that wouldn't bother me.

They put it out there. I will use it if it suits me. BTW those institutions receive a lot of government support, research grants especially, so I am getting something back for my taxes paid.

BTW these online courses seem to have a lot of foreign students, judging by comments and the names and locations of students I can see. They're US universities, I'd like to see more US folks using what they provide!

It doesn't say that you should not pay property taxes, pay government taxes, college tuition as needed, FICA deductions on your paychecks ... but don't pay more than necessary.

Public school tuition is SUBSIDIZED by taxpayers. Do not claim to be Galt if you ever attended one. Social security typically pays out much more than what was paid in - do not claim to be Galt if your parents and/or grandparents collected. Wars are fought to protect the status of the USD as the reserve currency. do not claim to be Galt if you live in the US - the rest of the world has subsidized your entire existence.

I am paying plenty of taxes to public schools.
SS now pays out less than put in, and even then it isn't solvent. The biggest beneficiaries were those in the first generation of it and it's gone downhill ever since. Get a clue.

Great thread OP. what we need is a comprehensive list of what individuals and corporations to avoid. Hell, it's my money and its time to be better informed as to where it goes and prospers.

We will find ways to reduce taxation. Whether it be through spending practices or other means, it's time the libtards start paying for their own free shit or suffer the consequences of it being free.

Why don't you start with the military? Then on to public schools. Shut them down and put those children to work. Next up social security - let those old people starve.
