Unlike welfare recipients, people who receive social security and disability have PAID INTO THEIR ACCOUNT DURING THEIR WORKING YEARS. Some of us have paid over $50,000 in TAXES in a given year. How many welfare and food-stamps recipients do you figure have done the same? OP's right. Time to stop pushing the cart and watch the look on their faces when they realize they're not getting that free ride anymore. no matter what we do the USA is going to topple from the weight of our debt. Period, we could never in several lifetimes pay off our current debt and with the spend crazy Administration, we are going down. So, we may as well stop being the makers, and enjoy life for a little while before the SHYF, it is going to happen no matter what, so go fishing. Take a walk, or a long road trip, do it now before it is too late. Live for the first time in your adult life. The future of our children is set, we can't change it now, teach them everything you can, now. Teach them skills that will be useful anywhere in the world and at least one or two foreign languages so they have choices of where to go. Agree, take it easy. And if you're working yourself to death and delaying kids for the sake of your career and achievements at work, you have the right to reconsider that. That money flows through the economy and is someone's sales, income, profit. Whether its JP Morgan or the section 8 landlord. They in turn spend that money. There is NO ONE in this country who doesn't see that money in their wallet at some point. And again - with the USD as the reserve currency we are all welfare recipients. There are foreigners who are sick of paying your way while you pop out another generation of parasites to suck on them too. You are the welfare world and it is YOU who won't take responsibility for it. You can't even admit it. What about working people of all colors who go to public school, work hard, take the hardest courses offered, go to private or public universities and get through hard majors like, for example, engineering, and go on to have successful careers? Or the rich kids who go to some unspecified college whose football team is a member of the "Ivy League", major in something like sociology, "go on to law school", and go on to be a plague on society? If I can keep more of my money, that money too will flow through the economy as someone's sales, income, profit. I've lived here and I've lived in other countries. The USA has some of the best natural endowment and some of the best human capital. Taking that into account, it's not obvious to me that we citizens get a particular benefit from reserve currency status. A strong currency means foreign goods are cheaper but we can't sell stuff manufactured here; our economy is hollowed out and we are in unimaginable debt. Again, you're just wrong about Social Security. If as you say it gave more back to everyone than what they put in, well how would it balance? Especially when there is a flood of retirees coming (baby boom) and no corresponding flood of workers paying in. |
