Actually it is not funny at all. Experiencing the reality of the sinkholes would be terrifying. That unknown element until you see it in such a form of watching the ground beneath your feet turn to a puddle of toxic sludge.

I woke up today reflecting on the sinkholes. The process of Sublimation in relation to the sinkholes. How this changes the earth, but the unseen layers, deeper strata. How we only see it when we see the actual sink hole on a video camera or TV, through imagery, and so forth. When I was thinking of this I envisioned the painting that depicts the oracle that is sitting on the three-legged stole that sits over a crack in the ground with gasses coming up. Sublimation isthe process of a solid (ice) changing directly into a gas (water vapor), or water vapor changing directly into ice, at the same temperature, without ever going through the liquid state.

They were the avatars, the Sybils who supported the elder goddess queens and god kings, fed them, guided them to the otherworld and, in the embrace of death, empowered their beings with the integrity that gives birth to vision and wisdom: the wholeness that is sovereignty over self and consequently sovereignty over all things.

According to Epiphanius, the world began as a cosmic egg, encircled by Time and Inevitability (most likely Chronos and Ananke) in serpent fashion. Together they constricted the egg, squeezing its matter with great force, until the world divided into two hemispheres. After that, the atoms sorted themselves out. The lighter and finer ones floated above and became the Bright Air (Aether and/or Ouranos) and the rarefied Wind (Chaos), while the heavier and dirtier atoms sank and became the Earth (Gaia) and the Ocean (Pontos and/or Oceanus).
 Quoting: Orphic Hymns

As noted in Chapter 4, the Pythia oracles were centered in breathing in Gaia.

The Orphic Hymns quote provides the temples views on the elements. This views also related to Pythagorean views of the elements:

The pentagram (five-pointed star) was an important religious symbol used by the Pythagoreans, which is often seen as being related to the elements theorized by Empedocles to comprise all matter.
