Voyager 1 and the near extinction of the human race
With the Voyager 1 mission teetering on the edge of the solar system, it became apparent, to me, that mankind just made the greatest mistake in all of it's history.

For science, the Voyager 1 mission reaching deep space is a step into the vast unknown. A crowning achievement. A chance to explore the cosmos from the figurative ground, instead of the birds eye view from the multitude of of telescopes we have. No longer protected by the Sun's heliosphere, we will get a taste of what space is truly like.

But what waits for us outside of our solar system? Most will say nothing.... Nothing but sprinkles of far away stars and galaxies on the black curtain of space. Even our own sun is just a bright spot behind us. No longer does it give off the loving warmth that we know. Is there really nothing out there? That's what we are led to believe. If there are any extraterrestrial races out there, they are too far away or still in their primordial infancy. It will take eons to find them.

No. Our Sun protected us. It kept us safe. We may not understand just how it works, but the heliosphere filtered our signals and radio waves. It kept "them" from knowing about us. It kept "them" from coming for us. Once Voyager 1 crosses the threshold of space, WE will be known to ALL... They will hear the beacon of the distant explorer and come with a fleet of...

Is it coincidence that December 21, 2012 is right around the corner? Have the ancient civilizations seen this and predicted it accurately?

This will be our end. Prepare yourselves.

tl;dr V'Ger tells da Aliens where we at. They'll be here 12/21/2012. DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmm.........
