I think they've earned it. Why don't you lay into the unwed mothers having lots of babies so they can get more money, or the welfare people who don't work and don't look for a job so they can continue to receive money, or the people collecting workman's comp dishonestly, or the people on food stamps who by fancy phones, tv's and cars. Most of the old people on Social Security know how to work and appreciate and make the most of what meager bit they get. |

Our dollar is worth about five cents now over what it was decades ago. The dollar amount is useless when you try to use it as you are. You have to weigh things in terms of parity. No one takes ambulance rides for the fun of it. |

If you were to add up all that I have contributed throughout my career, add compound interest to it, then there is no way I will ever see a return on that investment. I was self-employed for much of my career and paid both the employer AND employee portion of SSI. Bad OP post. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 27161380 11/08/2012 05:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You have no F'N clue OP. The people collecting now probably worked more in a decade than you'll ever work in a lifetime. If you're younger than 30, it's guaranteed you'll never know real work. For the last 20 years I've seen nothing but malingerers who cry about actually doing their job the way it's intended to be done using BOTH hands. Unless you're a salesman, it's impossible to do your job, as intended, with a friggin cell phone in your hand....which is a rarety today. If your god is so ashamed, it wouldn't be crying to you about it, a real god would be doing something about it. But nobody's seen any action from any god in a long, long time....if ever. We're on our own so man up and stop crying and take care of yourself. |

OASDI to the tune of 27 trillion, and Medicare to the tune on 53 trillion. It will collapse in the next 5 years. There are now 3 paying in for each collecting. Soon it will be 2.5, then 2. No way to prevent it from collapsing. Currently, entitlement spending + interest on the debt = more than all federal government revenue. It's going to collapse. If you idiots had elected Romney there was a chance to keep the system going for a bit longer. Instead you elected the narcissist, who will spend spend spend and when he's not spending, he'll be spending his time on the golf course. |
