Re: Las Vegas business owner fires 22 ‘mostly Hispanic’ employees over Obama win
Typical spoiled rotten Repub behavior - don't get your way so take it out on the little guys. Fire people who depend on their jobs for their livelihood because you're afraid the new tax rate wont allow you to purchase a second boat.

Go ahead, cut off your nose to spite your face. Fire people so that MORE of them apply for public assistance so that you are doing MORE of what you're bitching about - supporting people who can't support yourself. Then, as the government has to support more and more people and the nation becomes more socialist, and MORE people vote Democrat because voting Republican means that their kids will go hungry, you can bitch even louder that you perpetuated the cycle that you claim to deplore.

OR, you could do the reasonable thing - suck it up like big kids, employe people and GROW your business, which will enable a larger segment of the population to earn enough money to pay what you consider 'fair taxes' as well as contribute to the economy, thus growing your business further and increasing your income.

Of course, Republicans only SAY they care about growing the economy and that this is why they support the policies that they support. In reality, they care only about themselves and remaining at the top of society while everyone else lives lives of want and need.

Trust me, this dude is going to get hit with a discrimination lawsuit and be out far more money than he ever would have had he not thrown a temper tantrum like the entitled, elitist Republican pig he so clearly is...

^^^People like this reelected Obama. Selfish, ignorant liberals.
 Quoting: SoulWinner

The people who work 9-5 every day and are sick of seeing 1% of the country suck up 99% of the wealth are selfish and ignorant? Just for wanting to work and take care of their families and not be 'owned' by the people who have bigger net worths? Please. What is so selfish about thinking that EVERYONE should have a shot at - if not wealth - at least making a comfortable, liveable wage? The same people who employ the illegal hispanics because they will work cheaper than people here legally are the ones who say close the borders. The same people who ran a presidential campaign on the premise of keeping the rich rich so they can build the economy are now saying 'Businesses don't exist to build the economy.' And, according to them, neither should the government. The truth of the matter is that the Republican party doesn't give two shits about the economy as long as THEY stay rich. They don't care WHO is in office as long as they are a puppet for big business. Do you honestly think that if a shitload of business owners fire their employees that our government wont become MORE socialized out of sheer necessity???

There is nothing selfish and ignorant about recognizing disparity between the classes and realizing that so-called 'trickle down' economics and policies are a huge part of the reason that so many people will never get ahead. The system is designed to keep the people at the bottom and the bottom and the people at the top at the top. There is very little room for upward mobility, because if too many people have money, there's not enough to go around for the people who are already at the top.

'Selfish and ignorant' people like me, who elected and then re-elected Obama are content to have a little bit less if it means that a larger percentage of the population can have a little bit more. We don't have to have everything and lord it over the heads of the less fortunate. We realize that there is plenty to go around as long a 1% of the population doesn't feel the need to keep it all for themselves.

This business owner that you all seem to think is such a hero probably has it better on his worst day than the majority of his 'selfish' employees can even imagine. And that is the true travesty of the situation.

Good case for Union organizing. I'll bet he fired the one he thought voted for Obama.

I'll also bet they were young American born who wore their Obama shirts on purpose to say "fuck you fire me Bitch"!

I applaud those young Americans who wore their Obama shirts to work anyway.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26756963

So you applaud them for (you suspect) being among those getting fired! Yes that worked out well for them.

Seems to me that it shows bad business judgment to wear political slogans supporting a policy that is bad for the business in the view of the business owner.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27304459

Very bad and disrespectful to boot. They should have been fired regardless. Being most of the employees are Hispanic I suspect he's a cheap chiseling employer so they shouldn't have much trouble replacing him.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26957116

It's disrespectful of employees to wear political shirts that differ from their employers political shirts?? Where do you think this is, Russia? Should we imprison them, too?

Because of frivolous lawsuits.

You know I used to donate money, not so much anymore. I don't feel comfortable giving away my hard earned cash to people that may or may not be hard up. You never know these days. Too many people running cons.

I donate my time and skills locally. I work with a local company that donates various products to needy families. We build cabinets, dressers, tables, bed frames and various other things during the holidays. We build it and then we'll go out and purchase mattresses and bedding, we'll buy clothes and maybe a toy or two for the kids. For the parent or parents we will buy clothes or coats, shoes if needed. The company provides the materials and the rest of us take out of our own pockets to buy the extras.

The great thing about doing that is we get to go to the homes of the families prior to gifting them what we've made and we get to see with our own eyes just exactly how hard up they are. I know if it's time well spent.

I do it because I want to. Not because someone told me I "need" to do it or I'm obligated to do it.

True.............................OTOH, your "Debauchery," I would bet, involves doing things that personally affect me as a taxpayer.............................

I would bet.........................rofljerkit
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 777204

Is that really the best you've got?

I'm conservative in every way. My moniker is sarcasm, I'm the complete opposite but if you need to believe it fits me then go ahead.

Nothing I do affects you as a taxpayer.

I'm well educated, I have money, I own my home, vehicles & I'm not on welfare.

What exactly is it that you think you're paying for? Or are you just pissed because you're a whiny libtard that didn't like me saying it's not MY job to carry the less than fortunate. Get a job bitches.
 Quoting: Debauchery

I am a conservative, actually. Actually voted for Romney.

Lots of good it did me and half the country.

Just being fair and balanced, here. And I DID agree with you....remember.

I just think both sides of this country are helping to push this country ever farther into doom.

I've had it with BOTH parties. Particularly Obama's sickening DemoRat machine.

And the Republicrats that are too pussy to stand up for their own beliefs so that we end up nominating a stiff, lilly-white Mormon businessman who governed as a (and is actually) a moderate but was forced to go "conservative right" for political purposes and his wish to appeal to the majority of his party.

I couldn't even vote Libertarian because Gary Johnson is too liberal for me.

I'm paying exactly what the rest of this country is paying for----same crap, different toilet.

"Do you want the puppet on the left or the puppet on the right?"
------from Waking Life.

Now----if Ron Paul had been allowed to put his foot in-----THAT would have been something "outside the box."

Yes, I'm a Ron Paulite. Sue me.

This? Though? More of the same crap.

At the best, I had to make a "lesser of two evils"choice. Ended up with an even greater evil.

Don't give me the same old shit of "They are actually different" please. Not buying it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 777204

I wasn't a fan of either but I voted Romney..just to get the traitor out.

Quite frankly I think we would have been screwed regardless but I believe Obama is the worse of the two. He's going to go all out now, he's in for a 2nd term, he's not going to be held accountable for actions, it's not like it will affect voter turnout, he can't get in for a 3rd. I think he's going to just go for it and destroy the country. He has nothing to lose at this point.
 Quoting: Debauchery

I will say....at least Romney was honest in his blandness.

Mel Gibson (whom I despise) said something not too long ago that is probably the only thing I agree with him on-------

On voting.

"It's like trying to decide whether you want to be kicked or gouged."

Personally, I prefer to be kicked, as in Romney. But not by much.

You are so thoroughly saturated with liberal thinking, you are blind to reality. You have no idea how much the business owner earns. You use broad brushes to paint him the way movies do. Many business owners I know struggle to pay their bills. Go prosper and give away as much of your wealth as you wish. Until then, keep your hand off others' hard earned dollars.

Layoffs, businesses tightening the belt, downsizing, and many will finally close up for good, or go bankrupt.

Expect bankruptcies to skyrocket, both corporate, small business, and personal in the next four years.

Damn Dirty Dems...I hate every single libtard democrat.

The only dems I know personally, are as dumb as dirt...know nothing of current events or news. All four of the are old, nearing Social Security. They will be some of the first stooges in the ovens of Obama care rationed care and death panels. Serves them right.

Your points are valid & I agree within the context of their expression, but you're ignoring the reality and responsibilities of the business owner here, and that is running a business. You work 9-5, and successful business owners devote far more than 40 hours a week. Multinational corporations and those who run them are the real enemies of the people and the planet, not some guy with 114 workers.

The guidance we give these kids keeps them from getting involved in gangs & almost all of them end honor students. It is a good program.

Money is easy to give, it's impersonal.

Giving of yourself is more meaningful and makes the bigger difference in my opinion. The people you help get to see that you care first hand. You meet with them, talk to them, work with them. They know you care. That's all it takes to change a persons life. As corny as it may sound.

I think what you do is fantastic.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.

Hahaha!!! I bet the bankers who run things really love this!. If they ever have any doubts that their divide and conquer isn't working they can just read your post. And if they ever stop and ponder if we deserve the horrors about to descend on us, they need worry no more.

If the majority of this business owners' 114 employees are hispanic and most of the 22 employees who were fired are hispanic there is no premise for a discrimination lawsuit.

In the face of Obamacare going into effect, expect this exact same kind of defensive economically motvated posturing (significant firings) to happen with at least 1 out of every 10 businesses with greater than 50 employees all across America.

You wanted it America - you got it!

The employe's free speech was shirts and voting O.

The employer's free speech was:

"You wanted Obamaconomy and you got Obamaconomy."

I don't see the issue. All the the laid-off employees have to do
is start their own company doing the same thing and employee themselves the same way their former employer did. Very simple.

The employer didn't owe them a job. He's within his rights to run his company how he sees fit. And if he doesn't run it in a manner in which it's profitable EVERYONE will lose their job.

Look at it this way.. he did what he had to do to SAVE about 95 jobs because otherwise he would have probably had to close.

Libs should be grateful he'll still employee 95 of them and pay taxes on his profits to support other libs. He's helping libs.. thank him.

The caller stated he fired 22 of his 114 mostly hispanic employees. Not that most of the fired were Hispanic. If the story is true and if all fired were Hispanic (we don't know) he set himself up for a nice lawsuit. By referencing ethnicity in his comments I suspect he's on his way to court either way.

That's a very good point. But most of the people who voted for Obanaconomy want free handouts and are useless eaters so they will probably claim unemployment and sit on their ass and then get an obamaphone and welfare.

He did the right thing.

He should fire the rest.
 Quoting: Debauchery

NO, the rest should quit and leave him holding the bag. See how well he does with no employes. Hell, I think anyone that makes less then 100k a year, should all pick a day to be sick, the same day, and let's see what "I built this all by myself" bunch does then. How much revenue do you think they could make all by themselves.

With so many people out of work, I think they should call in sick on the same day so the employer can realize what good-for-nothings they are and hire people who really want a job and appreciate working.

Go start your own business....obviously you make less than 100,000 a year or you wouldn't be full of such drivel.

You know, I worked for the nicest CEO in the world. Too bad his kind is not around anymore. He spent his time going around and talking to his employees. The first thing he wanted to know was "how is your manager treating you?" He stated many times that he didn't build that company, his employees did. During his reign the company never had a lay off. It was not until he was gone and several other CEOs from inside the company were gone, that layoffs started. Who was he and what company? Tom Watson, IBM founder and CEO. Too bad that kind of attitude does not exist anymore.

Yeah, he was, his employees were like family to him, he really took care of us. During recessions he would have us do busy work, but would not lay off. He always said "I didn't make this company great, my employees did."
