In 2003 prior to the evil Bush tax cuts, the revenue was 682 billion dollars.

In 2006 (two tax years after their enactment) the revenue to the federal treasury was 1.1 Trillion dollars, an increase in nearly 400 billion dollars.

The deficit, however, grew from 240 billion in 2003 to nearly 400 billion in 2007, one year after the communist party took control of the US House.

Revenue went up 400 billion and s spending went up 800 billion. During this same period, the defense budget was cut 100 billion, including the budget for overseas expeditionary forces.

Why?

Because of non-discretionary spending that Congress is too chicken-shit to do anything about.
