Anyone gotten any random texts with their name?

Got a weird text today (along with family & friends) that said hello, hi, etc. & had our names in it? Not sure if its spam coming from somewhere? I texted back asking who it was so I'm just wondering what could they get information wise by texting me? If it even was spam? Oh, they've all come from crazy area codes like Minnesota, New York, and we're in Texas.
