If the law says we can't kill each other, why is abortion different?

The law doesn't say we can't kill each other. Got it?
Cops kill people every day. States kill prisoners in the gas chamber or electric chair. Military kill people every day in wars and skirmishes. Where did you get the idea that it is illegal to kill people?

If I kill someone, I go to jail. Don't try to be cute.

Laws are not made to keep people from doing something, they are made to establish a fine and prison term. Nobody will stop you from murdering, but they will try to catch you after the fact to make money from you.

So i won't get a fine or prison term for aborting a baby human but I will if I kill a child or adult human.

it's just a societal phase. Yes it's strange that partial birth abortions are legal meanwhile a mother could be tried for murder for letting her 3 week old baby die, there's not much difference.

But they have to draw the line somewhere, like the silly 21 drinking age, and this is currently where society draws it.

Then you have those people who think that all life is precious, that we should breed like rabbits ,more humans are great, let's fill the planet up. Ugh.

I guess it would depend on your views of when life starts concerning abortion....what the current legal system defines it as....how much money you got...
however, what "law" are you talking about that says killing is illegal?

Not if it is in self-defense, not if you can plead insanity, not if you don't get caught, not if you work for the CIA, not if you work for the government.

Well, seems to me that whether the abortion happens day 1 with a morning after pill, or at any other time in the pregnancy, the end result is the same; a human life was ceased. I'm not arrogant enough to think that I have the right to decide who gets a chance at life and who doesn't.

Throughout history, people have a habit of dividing people into us and them categories. The us group has all the rights and privileges, while he them group does not.

At one time blacks were the thems. It was considered legally and morally okay to put them in chains, work them to death, rape them, and sell their children. They were thems, they weren't humans, they had no rights.

Now we have different thems. Instead of a race, we picked an age. All preborn children are thems. We don't call them ni%%ers like we called blacks, we call them fetuses. (Which is Latin for small one.) We don't let them have any rights. Our laws protect animals better then them. (No pain killers are necessary on later term abortions, when the baby can fell everything as they are torn limb from limb.)

Killing is killing in my opinion. Don't discriminate against women and let all the others get away with it. If all killing is illegal, then it's okay to also make abortion illegal. Until then, the woman should be one of those protected classes that has the right to kill, like cops and military and government. Why not? Fair is fair.

I have more respect for the person who says "yes, if I abort at any stage, I ceased a human life from existence."

It may be stupid but who is to say what is life and what isn't? Are you really alive at the moment of conception? That's stupid.

Or what about if the woman has a headache and doesn't want to have sex. Should she be compelled to have sex as often as possible so as to create as many lives as possible? Some Catholic religious leaders in the dark ages did argue in favor of that point.

I said, regardless of when life begins, if I abort at any time, I cease a person's existence.

See, IMO, life begins once you breath air on your own, so I don't consider abortion murder. But I do not believe in abortion after the first tri mester. I think abortion should be limited to rape, incest and to save he life of the mother. Not because its bad timing, you don't like the guy, already have too many kids or whatever. And it certainly should have no place in an election. It should be between a woman and her doctor. She is the one who has to live with her decision. Not us.

Abortion is just another example of the powerful imposing their will on the powerless.
