I wish I could save Tibet...
How do you reconcile a commitment to non-violence when faced with violence? Why do the poor often seem happier than the rich? Must a society lose its traditions in order to move into the future? These are some of the questions posed to His Holiness the Dalai Lama by filmmaker and explorer Rick Ray. Ray examines some of the fundamental questions of our time by weaving together observations from his own journeys throughout India and the Middle East, and the wisdom of an extraordinary spiritual leader. This is his story, as told and filmed by Rick Ray during a private visit to his monastery in Dharamsala, India over the course of several months

Re: I wish I could save Tibet...
To save Tibet, China must be saved.

To save China, the world must be saved.

To save the world, the heart must be saved.

To save the heart, one must remove the dagger.

But if one removes one's dagger...

One loses the pain that justifies aggression.

One loses the ability to drown the pain of others in one's own pain.

One sentences oneself to feeling again, without escape.

Who is left, who is willing to make such a terrible sacrifice?

And so, how can the world be saved?

How can China be saved?

How can Tibet be saved?

For the love of one's own dagger,

In one's own heart,

All is lost.

For fear of tears, all is lost.

For fear of shame, all is lost.

For fear of feelings, all is lost.

And replaced with lies.

Tibet is just a place, don't romanticize it because its far away...its no more or less holy than anywhere else...

Focus instead on saving yourself, your loved ones, and your own community.

Re: I wish I could save Tibet...
I read an article here on the net about Tibet a few years ago. I'll never look at that shithole or the Lamas the same way again. The Lamas treated the people horribly, like total shit and the whole key to the game was the religion. The theory they fed the peasants was if you take their shit with a smile, one day you'll reincarnate as a Lama and you'll be able to have slaves, beat the serfs and starve them.

One of the stories involved milk. Tibet is pretty barrend, almost worthless for growing food and even the sheep and goats are hungry for lack of grass, let alone grain. Everybody there was starving in the 1800's and thses Lamas used to collect 500 gallons of milk a day to sacrifice to whatever monkey god they worship while the children starved. All you ever get is the sanitized version of events out of the Dali Lama worshiping media. The real truth of what those scumbags did and still do is uttterly shocking.

Buddhism is worse than even Islam.

You obviously lack knowledge about Tibet. Maybe you should study about a subject before talking about it.

No, you need to study the history of Tibet under Buddhist Lama rule. I think you're going to be pretty surprised just how un-romantic that place is. Only in the rarest cases would I ever suggest this, but the people of Tibet probably never had it so good than they have it now under communist rule.

You sound like a complete fucking idiot, if I may say so.

I support a free Tibet. Not so much because I care about Tibet, but because I'd like to see internal struggles in China and an unraveling of its government and loss of much of its territory.

So, FREE TIBET!
