I mean, gov't and technology are useless when Mother Nature strikes.

Gov't, despite how many bureaus or Femas there are, can never handle anything properly. I guess you can only expect so much from humans.

Also, we am have developed all this technology but it's all useless without power.

My answer?

Go old school. People need to return to self reliance. They need to return to wood stoves, fireplaces and gardens. I understand that this doesn't work if your in the cities but there's no excuse if you live in the burbs. Yet, people in the burbs are just as dependent as those in the city.

I swear we need a CME that knocks out the grid for a couple years to reset us.

Anymore the suburbs are being more and more urban themselves. Every square patch of grass is being used for bank pads or some chain pharmacy where the denizens of the 'Kwa can spend their EBT.

When people own thousand dollar tv's but don't own a sleeping bag. When people know a week in advance and don't take the time to have water and food stocked up for a storm. When people believe that there goverment will take care of everything for them, there is no hope. These people will die. I agree we should just turn off the power and let it all implode.

Your right OP, I had to experience it first hand. Power went out in my house, had to drive for hours to crash somewhere else. Boatload of roads closed so constantly driving around. Gridlocked intersections with no lights. Ran out of gas, no gas stations. It was like Mad Max out there.

It must be a nightmare for those still with no power after TWO WEEKS! And have fun at the long lines at the gas station.

All from a bit of wind and rain. Makes u realize how tenuous modern society is.

And LOL FEMA and government help. Did not see any FEMA presence at all anywhere. All just a publicity stunt to make sure Obunghole gets elected.

When my family vacations in the summer, there is electricity at the cottage but no electronic entertainment/cell phones. That alone is enough in having to teach them to use their mind for entertainment. A small thing but at least they have the contrast to learn from.
