ANKARA (AP) — Eleven thousand Syrians have fled the country in the past 24 hours into Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon, the UN announced Friday.

Earlier Friday, a UN official reported that as many as 9,000 Syrians had crossed into Turkey alone overnight to flee the violence in their country, citing officials in Turkey where footage showed refugees climbing through the barbed-wire fence separating the two countries.
