When I joined my company in the early 1990's it was a 100% American workforce. Now it's 90% Indian. And this is a big company. Don't ask me how I managed to survive all the cuts. Very lucky I guess.

What is scary is that over 50% of Americans could not see the writing on the wall. Or that our elected officials still believe they can mandate in a vacuum. That changes in regulations, mandates and taxes will not cause a change in behavior.

Yes, my observation also. Why didn't companies speak up that they would close shop or cut the work force before the election as a consequence? Probably, because they would have done it no matter who won.

American company executives hate America, the American workers, what little remains of American values. They American corporations want the same thing the American Federal gov't wants - as well as the rest of the world -- they want to destroy the U.S. and bring it down to a third-world country level.

Sadly, the ignorant and/or greedy and/or stupid Americans don't care much either - they don't buy American, they don't demand to speak to an American when they call into a customer support center, they don't demand the workers who do lawnwork, daycare, construction -- andy service be an American.

Teco Coal's job cuts follow several more in our county... there were 1200 laid off Consol Coal in the same county 30 days before election.. as well as so many cut off Alpha Natural resources.. God forbid the EPA try to control the out of control cancer rates in this area...

Hawker Beechcraft announces more layoffs

The company says 240 employees will lose their jobs with the closing of Hawker Beechcraft Services facilities in Little Rock, Ark.; Mesa, Ariz.; and San Antonio, Texas.

It also plans to cut a total of 170 jobs at its Wichita headquarters and at its completion center in Little Rock. More than half of the jobs being elimianted are in Arkansas, however the planemaker refused to release an exact number.

Research in Motion cuts jobs at U.S. headquarters in Irving

Research in Motion Ltd., the maker of BlackBerry smartphones, laid off about 200 people at its U.S. headquarters in Irving on Wednesday, according to a source close to the company who did not want to be named.
Canada-based RIM spokesman Nick Manning confirmed that layoffs occurred in Irving but would not specify how many. RIM employed about 700 people there.

The move will result in 980 job cuts at U.S. Cellular, with 640 in the Chicago area, according to a spokeswoman. The cuts are slightly under 12 percent of the approximately 8,400 total employees U.S. Cellular had at the end of the third quarter.

More layoffs announced at Anniston weapons incinerator
The company that operated Anniston’s chemical weapons incinerator has 50 fewer workers today as part of continuing efforts to close down the facility.

According to a Wednesday press release from Westinghouse Anniston, the contractor responsible for shutting down the facility, the employee drawdown today will affect 50 workers at the Anniston Chemical Agent Disposal Facility. The facility reached another closure milestone and so no longer needs the labor.

The Axe Falls: Bristol-Myers To Cut Nearly 500 Jobs
And the parade of layoffs continues. The latest drugmaker to shed some workers is Bristol-Myers Squibb, which plans to eliminate 479 sales reps and related jobs now that Otsuka Pharmaceuticals will assume responsbility for marketing the Abilify antipsycotic in the US, a spokeswoman tells us. The Umatilla Chemical Agent Disposal Facility will reduce its work force by 34 positions this month -- the third reduction in force during the past year.

Three more rounds of layoffs are planned in 2013, which are estimated to include 400 to 450 job cuts next year.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last Tuesday that employers issued 1,316 "mass layoff actions" (affecting 50 workers or more) in September; more than 122,000 workers were affected overall. USA Today financial reporter Matt Krantz wrote that "(m)uch of the recent layoff activity is connected to what's been the slowest period of earnings growth since the third quarter of 2009." Some necessary restructuring is underway in response to the stagnant European economy. But more and more U.S. businesses are putting the blame -- bravely and squarely -- right where it belongs: on the obstructionist policies and regulatory schemes of the blame-shifter-in-chief.

"With the layoffs it's hurting a lot of people. They're getting called back for three or four months and then Volvo lay them back off. That hurts them and their families. I think they ought to come up with a different solution to it because I believe it's hurting everyone in Dublin,” said Roy Bowden.

Company leaders blame the decline in industry orders on sluggish job growth, federal budget discussions, and yes, the upcoming presidential election. This is the second major layoff since 2009 when 650 people lost their jobs, but the company brought back more than 700 workers in 2011. Currently, 2,400 people work at the Dublin plant.

"It's normal for Volvo, you know they always do this, so it's negative, but they'll always bounce back,” said Loetha Orren.

Mourning in America - Here's Those Layoffs We Voted For Last Night

Last night's victory for the President marks the first time since its inception that Obamacare is no longer a what-if; it is the future of health care in America.

It also means a near immediate impact on the economy. With 20 or so new or higher taxes set to be implemented, ranging from a $123 billion surtax on investment income, through the $20 billion medical device tax, all the way down to the $600 million executive compensation limit, Obamacare will be a nearly unbearable tax burden on the economy.

Who will pay? The middle-class workforce, of course.

So with another four years for President Obama to look forward to, and the obvious inevitability of Obamacare that this entails, let's examine the very real jobs that will be lost, and the very real lives that will be affected.

Welch Allyn

Welch Allyn, a company that manufactures medical diagnostic equipment in central New York, announced in September that they would be laying off 275 employees, or roughly 10% of their workforce over the next three years. One of the major reasons discussed for the layoffs was a proactive response to the Medical Device Tax mandated by the new healthcare law.

Dana Holding Corp.

As recently as a week ago, a global auto parts manufacturing company in Ohio known as Dana Holding Corp., warned their employees of potential layoffs, citing "$24 million over the next six years in additional U.S. health care expenses". After laying off several white collar staffers, company insiders have hinted at more to come. The company will have to cover the additional $24 million cost somehow, which will likely equate to numerous cuts in their current workforce of 25,500 worldwide.

Stryker

One of the biggest medical device manufacturers in the world, Stryker will close their facility in Orchard Park, New York, eliminating 96 jobs in December. Worse, they plan on countering the medical device tax in Obamacare by slashing 5% of their global workforce - an estimated 1,170 positions.

Boston Scientific

In October of 2009, Boston Scientific CEO Ray Elliott, warned that proposed taxes in the health care reform bill could "lead to significant job losses" for his company. Nearly two years later, Elliott announced that the company would be cutting anywhere between 1,200 and 1,400 jobs, while simultaneously shifting investments and workers overseas - to China.

Medtronic

In March of 2010, medical device maker Medtronic warned that Obamacare taxes could result in a reduction of precisely 1,000 jobs. That plan became reality when the company cut 500 positions over the summer, with another 500 set for the end of 2013.

Abbott Labs - 700 layoffs
Covidien - 595 layoffs
Kinetic Concepts - 427 layoffs
St. Jude Medical - 300 layoffs

Beyond the complete elimination of a significant number of American jobs is another looming problem created by the health care law - a shift from full-time to part-time workers.

Energizer to cut more than 10 percent of workforce
Energizer Holdings Inc said on Thursday that it would cut more than 10 percent of its workforce, or about 1,500 people, as it tries to rev up results in its battery business.

A restructuring at the company, which also makes Schick razors, was in the works for months. In September, Energizer said it planned to cut jobs and expenses but until Thursday it had not disclosed details of the plan.

Earlier today, Twitchy related some heartbreaking stories of small business owners laying off workers to avoid the economic impact of the Obamacare tax that isn’t a tax. Comedian Jon Lovitz, a small business owner himself, was no barrel of laughs either as his timeline filled with stories of impending downsizing. So, what about those big corporations? Boeing’s defense division announced yesterday it would cut 30 percent of management staff, and the company was not alone, we’re learning.

The cancellation of a billion dollar computer modernization program will cost 115 people their jobs at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, the Air Force said Thursday.

An additional 55 civilian and military base employees will be reassigned from the failed Expeditionary Combat Support System project. Those losing their jobs are advisory and assistance services contract employees, the Air Force said.

The Air Force concluded the program is no longer viable, a statement said. “Therefore, we are cancelling the program and moving forward with other options in order to meet requirements,” it said, adding that the Air Force “will be better served by developing an entirely new strategy.”

Earlier this year, the Dayton Daily News reported that problems with the computer modernization project put it at risk, although the government had already spent nearly $1 billion on it.
