Rightwing propaganda.

That is all.

Of course you're going to find people that are unhappy sleeping on a fucking cot.

But all schools in NYC have heaters and they were turned on September 15th.

If they're cold its because they are near a fucking door and people are going in and out to smoke.

Fuck that fat shit Christie he's the one who bowed down to Emperor Obama and blew the whole fucking election. Let Jersey go to fucking hell and be quick about it. Lots of other cities got hit by that storm and you didn't see all the mayors lined up try to kiss the Presidential wang like Christie did.

So now we know how people will be treated in a disaster under the Obama administration.

I dread next year's hurricane season.

I hope you lose everything someday in a disaster, and then maybe you'd have half a heart.

Having heat/ GOOD shelter is something that every person should have, period. This is ridiculous.
 Quoting: amywood71605
No, having the goddamn brains to know to have cold weather clothing on hand is what every person SHOULD have..
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27261702

It's about 12 days now since Sandy. I know because I got my power at home back 2 days ago, and I'm told it was out 10 days. Since my home was not flooded and I have a generator, and I was able to buy enough gasoline, I was able to run my house on a generator for 10 days. This gave us heat, water, everything except I smelled of gasoline from maintaining the generator.

If we had been flooded, I don't know what we would have done. I expect we would have survived in heavy clothes, but for 10 days that is quite hard, and not everyone is in strong health as we are.

Having cold weather clothing is one thing. Having enough to survive living in a tent shelter in freezing weather, in the middle of New Jersey and not after any sort of nuclear attack, is not something one should have to plan for.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27304459

This sounds like a third world country . I would never think people of the United States would treat there people this way. Sure is shocking. Where is all the dam money to help these people???
 Quoting: MONSTER

Or all the news coverage. I think there are plenty of people who would be willing to help out, but this situation is being kept secret. I am in the area and I've been wondering for a couple days now how the flooded area is dealing with this new snowstorm we had, and I found no news until this story. Granted I was just grazing the internet, but where are the front page stories in all the NYC papers about this? NY Times, NY Post, NY Daily News.

These people are being denied food and being kept out of sight. Maybe Obama wants to see them suffer because people suffered after Katrina. Hell I don't know what is in his mind, but it's nothing good.

WTF??

“My 6-year-old daughter Angie was a premie and has a problem regulating her body temperature,” Sotelo noted. “Until 11 (Wednesday) night they had no medical personnel at all here, not even a nurse. After everyone started complaining and they found out we were contacting the press, they brought people in. Every time we plugged in an iPhone or something, the cops would come and unplug them. Yet when they moved us in they laid out cable on the table and the electricians told us they were setting up charging stations. But suddenly there wasn’t enough power.”
 Quoting: Project_Deimos

Omg ^

This is sick, these poor people :( I know we can't depend on gov to help. But, some can't afford to prep or up & go, like others. Even harder for the families with children who have medical fragility.

I won't be surprised if these "camps" have large pictures of Obama on the wall yet.

They were already in a heated enclosed building. It was a usable shelter.

Then they were moved out into tent city. A lie was told to get them to move willingly. They moved expecting even better conditions, because FEMA tricked them so of course they did not prepare to be in freezing windy tents even if they had the ability to do so.

Seems to me this situation was created deliberately and carefully.

Re: Bitter cold inside a disaster shelter...."We got f--ked!"
WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYONE....????? We have seen numerous disasters over the years and its very very clear that we have to have a personal plan in place. One needs to have several days of supplies on hand, blankets, flashlights, solar radio's, an emergency kit....to get you through the first days. It is absolutely impossible to mobilize mass support immediately. Think about it before you start moaning and groaning about the situation you might find yourself in. How does that help anyone?

You also have to have a plan about when to get your butt out of the area and find shelter elsewhere. You cannot sit there having a pity party waiting for someone to put you in a luxury hotel. It doesnt work like that.

I saw a newsclip on CNN the other night about a family just sitting in their battered home waiting for someone to tell them what to do. They were exhausted and cold. But they made no attempt to take their children out of harms way and leave the disaster zone behind. They claimed that there were looters in the area. SO WHAT? Youre home is uninhabitable, whatever remains is not worth protecting. So, gather up what might be meaningful and go. Be responsible and stop whining. You arent the only person having this experience. And do not expect to be rescued.

And do not consider rebuilding in the same place. Climate change is real and it does not make sense to try and recreate homes/businesses in an area that could be wiped out anytime.

Sandy is a wake up call....one of many we have had over the past years. Be prepared for anything.... Be responsible for yourself and your family.

awww gee, i had to have cable tv with the deluxe nfl package, so no, i couldn't save for a disaster like this, to pay for a hotel room for a few weeks, besides, it's the governments responsibility to care for me, wah, i'm just a lost little sheeple, help me

this is america, so we should be staying in a nice hotel that the government pays for, they can just print the money needed to pay for it, what good is being a citizen of a free country if they don't give you things for free, that's not a free country, so keep america free, give freedom

Re: Bitter cold inside a disaster shelter...."We got f--ked!"
Conservatives or people who call themselves conservatives lost and will continue to lose because the hardcore obsess about stuff MOST Americans don't obsess over, like:

*Religion, especially evangelical shit and an obsession with the end of the world

*Gay shit. Most evangelicals and self described hardcore conservatives are obsessed with homosexuality, and sexuality in general. Get the fuck over it. Most Americans, especially outside of the south, don't care and have a live and let live attitude.

*You basically run and hide in small towns, rural areas, and so-on, and are afraid of big, bad cities. Well guess what morons? Big urban areas ARE WHERE THE VOTES ARE...IT'S WHERE MOST PEOPLE LIVE. Nice republicans always win Wyoming, Montana, the Dakotas, Idaho, but it doesn't mean jack shit in an election. Stop running away from the world, being pathologically anti-social, waiting for the 'Rapture' and 'End Times'....and LIVE.

The 'Southern Strategy' that 'Conservatives' and Republicans have used successfully since the 70s is now failing; it's like a broken business model. You can not any longer rely only on southern evangelical folks to win an election. Republicans and conservatives need a new business model that must include a wide range of people and regions other than the south. The U.S.A. is a BIG country.

*OUR MILITARY IS TOO FUCKING EXPENSIVE....we have too many commitments around the world. And out alliances are often bullshit, with the U.S. servicemen and women doing the heavy lifting. U.S. Armed Forces are now also primarily the muscle for too big to fail multinational corporations. And Israel...WTF is up with this 'Relationship'? It's frankly toxic, IMHO, but say this in the U.S. and you'll be vilified and shot down as being 'Racist' and 'Antisemitic'. But mainstream conservatives in the U.S. especially these retarded evangelical Christians down south are obsessed with Israel and the end of the fucking world. The whole thing is FUBAR.

I'm a real conservative BTW; not a phony like I've witnessed take over the U.S. conservative movement over the past 30 odd years.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26915656

Yeah your right....

We live in the country so we can get away from dumb asses like you. We are not running from people like you, we just love are freedom more and don't need Gov like you people do.
We are stronger then you people are by 10 fold.

And if the Dems and left are so great why are they treating the the peole from sandy like shit, oh thats right the left can never handle that stuff very well.

But when the left pigs like you bring the Country down as they are doing to all Countries around the world then everyone will call on US CONSERVATIVES TO FIX EVERYTHING WHEN YOU DUMB ASS LIBS CAN NOT BECAUSE ALL YOU PEOPLE WANT IS STUFF GIVEN TO YOU INSTEAD OF WORKING FOR IT LIKE US.

LIKE I SAID WE ARE THE STRONG AND ALWAYS HAVE BEEN, WE BUILD THIS COUNTRY SO YOU LAZY ASS HAS A PLACE TO CALL HOME THAT IS KINDA FREE UNTIL THE LEFT IS DONE WITH IT.
 Quoting: soldier32 119873

When FEMA tricks people so that they do not prepare, that's the part that proves evil is a motivation, not just limited resources.

All you people (using that term broadly) saying these pathetic creatures should have prepared -- FEMA tricked them. Ordered them out of their houses, probably, put them in an enclosed shelter, then moved them to worse conditions they surely had not prepared for.

We stood and talked in the cool morning air a short distance up the road after security at the front gate threatened to have our cars removed outside the entrance to what Sotelo’s identification tag calls “Camp Freedom,” even though it more closely resembles a prison camp.

“Sitting there last night you could see your breath,” said Sotelo. “At (Pine Belt) the Red Cross made an announcement that they were sending us to permanent structures up here that had just been redone, that had washing machines and hot showers and steady electric, and they sent us to tent city. We got (expletive). (Fucked)

“The elections are over and here we are. There were Blackhawk helicopters flying over all day and night. They have heavy equipment moving past the tents all night.”
