Well, I've been paying attention to this sort of thing for about a year, and I've never seen an EQ of that magnitude right at the volcano. And Venus does owe us a major eruption, as I've mentioned... But it's probably nothing...or is it?

Today is the doom date according to many glp'rs and also Nostradummy. We shall see.

Well, I just read a few articles on the puppy and suddenly I was struck with the thought that it was volcanoes that killed all the dinosaurs, and nothing else.
Not one mind you, but if a enough of those popped at the same time, it would have been game over for large land based mammals.

In 1815 Tambora had one of the largest eruptions on earth in the past 1000 years and ejected 100-150 cubic km of lava.

No reason to cry -- what must come must come... But so many volcanoes are giving off signs. Who knows which one will blow...

And as for GLP doom dates --- they can all be ignored...

It could mean stronger tectonic activity on the area and who knows, a potential volcanic eruption.

If you wait until you see the 9.0 EQ to talk about it you will never be ready..

A 5.0 under a big volcano can lead to more damage than a 9.0 under Tokyo...

Thanks for the info, but 33.70 km is away from the CENTER of the volcano, I presume. As large as the magma chamber is, that could still be under it (though I used the word 'at' which implies 'right next to')...

In short, I wouldn't climb that mountain today or tomorrow or...ever.

This just in: Conservatives are now blaming Liberals for causing the this and every other EQ in the world.

UPDATE: Now there's been a 5.0 on the other side of Tambora and also two similar EQs not far from Krakatoa.
