why not prisons?
it's not like there are millions upon millions of empty foreclosed homes all over the country...

Actually now the Fed substantially owns a lot of them and may have title in hand for some of them. So if the Fed is working together with Washington on this -- which is a part of Bernanke's job as I see it -- they could do this. they won't admit to owning them i doubt they'd rather they sit empty but, if they did do this just imagine... every neighborhood could have its own section 8 housing that would help the tensions in this country, wouldn't it? people lose their homes only to watch the government give them away while the former homeowners are on the streets or living in dumps? that wouldn't cause any resentment, huh? hmmmm lots of food for thought there but, then, keep in mind the fed is not exactly "federal" it's a system of privatize the profits at our expense and then socialize the losses the houses they've gained are "profit" to them but then, what isn't? we should all register as banks :)
