Anonymous Coward User ID: 7376059 United States 11/09/2012 12:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok...the power company wont restore power untill the homes have been inspected by a licensed electrician and plumber this would require the home owner to pay for this. So if the military takes over would that still apply? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7376059 It should apply; just because the utility is poorly managed does not mean power should be connected to water damaged homes before they havebeen inspected for safety. |

It was being reported that the CEO of Con Ed was issuing an apology saying something along the lines of "we were not prepared". Did not get details as I had to run out. I haven't seen any con ed trucks around and there are still lots of people without power. ..."The soul is dyed the color of its thoughts. Think only on those things that are in line with your principles and can bear the light of day. The content of your character is your choice. Day by day, what you choose, what you think, and what you do is who you become. Your integrity is your destiny ... it is the light that guides your way." Heraclitus |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 27142624 Mexico 11/09/2012 02:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Newsday reported Friday that LIPA was warned as long ago as 2006 that it was not prepared to handle a major storm, that it badly needed to replace outdated technology and did not keep up with critical maintenance. Among the issues the utility was warned about include a 25-year-old computer system not capable of tracking outages, and failures to keep up with basic tasks like replacing rotting poles and trimming trees near power lines, the paper said. Newsday said a reporter on Thursday visited the Hicksville headquarters of National Grid, which is the company contracted by LIPA to oversee operations, and found engineers tracking outages with highlighters and paper maps. The utility companies cannot handle it. So the taxpayer will step in. Then after all their neglect and over charging, everything will be updated and paid for by the govt, who will then hand it back to the utility companies. Nice deal. I hope your rates go down as a result, but I doubt it. ps this isnt socialism. |
