The bottom line is behavior - obedience or disobedience, which express "the inside of the cup". The Pharisees were sanctioned priests and likely blood descendants of the 12 tribes, yet these things counted for nothing. Their pride and hate and greed trumped everything else and indicated who they really served, hence Christ called them children of the devil.

There are no special exemptions. Even Moses lost his right to enter into the promised land, due to disobedience in one instance (in striking the rock a second time, he symbolically re-crucified the Redeemer). There's no free ride on the laurels of ancestry, calling or status. Show us the groceries or be disqualified.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus told the Jews right to their faces what God requires of them. Let us know when current "Israel" suddenly becomes famous for turning the other cheek or blessing its perceived enemies.
