Each time a person stands for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he or she sends forth a tiny ripple of hope. And crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. Few are willing to embrace the disapproval of their fellows, the censure of their colleagues, the wrath of their society. Moral courage is a rarer commodity than bravery in battle or great intelligence. Yet it is the one essential vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change. or how about the US Cellular announcement:

"U.S. Cellular will sell markets including Chicago to units of Sprint Nextel Corp. for $480 million.

The move will result in 980 job cuts at U.S. Cellular, with 640 in the Chicago area, according to a spokeswoman. The cuts are slightly under 12 percent of the approximately 8,400 total employees U.S. Cellular had at the end of the third quarter.

The company plans to keep its headquarters in Chicago"

This has nothing to do with the elections...was in place well before

"Hawker Beechcraft says the moves are in line with plans to emerge from bankruptcy as a standalone company. It says the closures and layoffs will help with its plan to focus on turboprop, piston and military aircraft and on its parts and maintenance business."

Re: And so it begins.....layoffs
and let's look at Energizer:

Energizer Holdings Inc said on Thursday that it would cut more than 10 percent of its workforce, or about 1,500 people, as it tries to rev up results in its battery business.

A restructuring at the company, which also makes Schick razors, was in the works for months. In September, Energizer said it planned to cut jobs and expenses but until Thursday it had not disclosed details of the plan.

This year, the company faced pressures including losing shelf space for batteries at Walmart and stepped up competition from larger rival Procter & Gamble Co's Gillette razors. At the same time, it has been under constant pressure as popular iPads, mobile phones and other electronic gadgets do not require its kind of batteries.

"It is absolutely what the company has to do in the context of declining market share, declining category growth in batteries and much tougher competition," Sanford C. Bernstein analyst Ali Dibadj said of the restructuring. "This is a short-term Band-Aid, but going forward they're still stuck in very difficult categories and positions in those categories."

Yeah, okay. So it just "happens" to be the day after the election. This is why the show is called "Surrounded by Idiots".

So let me get this straight. You shills are so clueless that you don't know about political favors? Probably not so let me explain it to you.

"Don't announce your layoffs until after the election. Or else".

The shits on both sides - and if you call me a Replub again I'll cast my Hungarian evil eye on your ass - convince companies to hold back information until after an election.

We all knew it was coming, we all saw it coming and now it's here.

Hey, this will be fun. It's my first prophecy on GLP! I predict that there will be gigantic defense contractor layoffs in the next few weeks.
