In the former Soviet Union, many had two or three qualifications and were high achievers.

In hierarchical societies like capitalism,including Victorian Britain, underachievement was and is the norm amongst the poor. Basically, why should the rich put themselves out for you if you aren't prepared to get off your rear end as its each man or woman for him or herself. You work hard for your better future. That grade A student in the Grade Z neighbourhood is there as his parents aren't able to do what is necessary to get him where he should be. A kindly capitalist such as Obama or Mother Theresa or even Trump for that matter may make the odd gesture, but at the end of the day, if you want a decent job or success, it is up to you and no employer will be fooled.

In socialism, the state expects you to excel in service to your community. You are expected to apply yourself.

In either case, effort is required or you either fail yourself or your community, depending on the system. The fact that people like you seem to think that you are owed more by those around you is strange.

I am Marxist and a very successful daytrader. Lesson. I am in Rome so I do as the Romans do. If I have kids it is up to me to ensure that they school in rich neighbourhoods. Thats an objective recognition of facts. But ideally, working in community is better in my view. In practice, I live in the real world and take what comes. I don't constantly bitch.

Exactly what happened with my affirmative action negro classmates in college. Never came to class, never took quizzes, failed the final, and still passed. I realized my 'A' was more absolute than relative. It was ok for such a small percentage of the society, who will probably never make it to the job market. But scaling it up to the national level... wow.
