My main bitch about communism is that it has always led to totalitarianism in short order. I dont really understand how US people feel about socialism because I have lived under small s socialism all my life. Our medicare system was great, but now there are long waiting lists because many of the doctors Canada produces move south because they earn 4x the money they would here, after paying much less (1/3) for their education. Cant blame them or the US for that it's supply and demand. My Employment insurance is 55% of my wages, for as long as I've been working, up to 52 weeks. If I get part time work I can earn up to half my claim before any money is deducted, and If I work steady that week I still will get the other half of my claim ( eg 400 a week ei, can earn 200 before loosing any of the 400, and can earn up to 800 and still get 200 in benefits.) It is certainly not perfect up here but I feel lucky with what I have, and you can certainly get ahead here if you work hard and make the right moves. The reason that we had less financial chaos than you people down there is that our Liberal, and that's the party name not a definition, government kept a tight rein on the banks. Now we have had 10 years of Conservative, again party name(I guess we keep labeling simple around here), and the moves are getting pretty fascistic. Proroughing parliament and internet spy bills, our PM (basically your Pres.)is a creationist rapture believer. I work hard , I survive, and I dont mind giving up some of what I earn so everyone gets a semi fair deal. I guess you conservitive haters are going to tear me apart now.
